    Hello everybody,

Less than an inch of snow here and one would think that there had been an avalanche! Schools closed, people off work, Ireland shuts down at the first smell of snow, hope we never get a real fall.

Took DGS2 to school, OH to day hospital and then went for our prescription refills, took me 2 hours to get to chemists as nobody was travelling faster than 10 miles an hour.... things seem to have cleared a bit now, so return journey for OH should be a lot easier.

Hugs to all in need or want, take care and stay in the warm if you don't have to go out...have just had text from daughter in London, all closed down there so they( she, partner, 4 and 1 year olds) are off to play in the snow....must be getting old as my first reaction was that they were mad and both adults old enough to have sense!

    Afternoon :hello:

Good to hear some positive news MSD - and I will be sending positive vibes to katholicos's Dad.

Well this is one of the reasons I moved within walking distance of work. It's good not to have to rely upon public transport. A good eight inches of snowfall across inner SE London which is really unheard of - it very rarely settles this far into town. I remember a foot and a half for a good few days one year when I was growing up in the North (c.1990/1991?) but it's just so rare in London.

It's lovely and quiet in my office today :D Got a text from my boss just before I left the flat to say he wouldn't be in because of no trains, so I have spent the morning alternating between (a) getting loads done without interruption, and (b) faffing about :o Booked some concert tickets for next year which came on sale today; have been doing a great deal of general office dogsbodying and phone-answering (as for the first hour or so I was in the office, none of the admin team had made it in); and am now going to take advantage of the reduced workforce by doing a vital task involving extraction of some large chunks of data from a database which I'm only normally supposed to fiddle with outside of peak working hours.

Am going to the opera this evening, reviewing the opening night of "La Boheme" at the ENO, but I suppose it depends on whether the performers actually manage to make it into town. It would be a bit of a disaster if they had to cancel the performance as it is being broadcast live on Sky Arts 2...

I am fully expecting to have to walk home from the West End after the performance, but if it's on, I'll be there :D

Right, lovely portion of HM Thai curry for lunch, and no competition for use of the microwave... must be going!

    Rzl xx

..... Trying to get used to not being able to watch tv as my fmate told me last night he will be cancelling the cable next month as Virgin have put it up £8 and we need it to get a signal on even the terrestrial channels.......

How will you manage when they turn off the analogue signal in your area? You will need to get a digi box or have cable again.....

I am so glad I am Old Style when I am snowed in. Have filled the bird feeders and that is as far as I am venturing out today.

It's not so much fun for us Old Stylers who had to come into work  :p I just hope it's clear by tomorrow, as I have to take DD to an interview at Leeds College of Art :j :T

I'm happily sat here at my desk eating HM broccoli and stilton soup, and HM cheddar bread :D

I'll add this to today's Old Style daily thread.

Work have sent me a letter saying I have to have a week 9 attendance meeting. They have offered to come to me to hold the meeting. I am going to accept, as I will have an advantage. Not being in the Head's office for a start, and she can see my stair lifts, so she doesn't think I'm making it up!!:T The Union will be representing me too. So I'm prety positive. I want either re-deployment now, or medical retirement.

That's positive news, at least by coming to you they will be able to see that you really do need the assistance and are not fudging it :) And you will be more relaxed in your own home.

    Hi All

Havent had time to catch up on what has been going on over the weekend but I will!

As always hugs to all who need them! ((((((hugs))))))

Well we had an eventful weekend to say the least! We had a flood! We have a flat roof over our hall and it was really raining heavy and was so stormy. Never really thought anything of it until we got up on saturday morning and there was about 2 inches of water in our hall!! Not to mention the fact that the paper was hanging off the ceiling! Yip you guessed it..........we have a leak!

Not much OS going on today apart from trying to sort out the insurance to get the roof fixed. Thankfully we have no snow here yet and you have to pray that there it no rain in Northern Ireland either as Im kinda worried that the tarpaulin wont hold!

Well once I catch up and get everything sorted I will pop back

Hope you all have a nice day!

    Linz xoxox
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!

:snow_grin :snow_grin :snow_grin Good afternoon! Haven't read the rest of the thread yet, or yesterday's, but will catch up shortly.

I hope everyone is managing to keep warm! I walked to the baker's and paper shop this morning as I didn't want DH to feel he had to de-snow the car, and I enjoyed seeing whole fimiles throwing snowballs at each other and building snowmen (the whole family being at home because there are no buses in London, or trains into London on Southeastern!). Last time we had this much snow here, 23yo DS was five :snow_grin We got some snowboarding gloves for him and for DH while we were in Dover at the w'end, so he's well pleased as they're waterproof and have a good grip! I don't think he'll be doing any snowboarding though! The baker's didn't have much bread - I guess today's flour didn't arrive - so I was glad I went when I did. If things get worse I'll have to use the BM and hope the yeast still works - haven't used it since Dh's diabetes was diagnosed as was worried it wouldn't cope with multiseeded bread etc, but we may find out soon.

Diva - i gather there is good news about Tristan, I'm so glad and will read your post presently.

Best wishes everyone, and ((((HUGS)))) to everyone in need of some.

    ivyleaf xx
