Morning all!
It's stopped snowing here but must be cold as we normally don't get snow here even if they get it in other parts of London. reckon it's cos of the airport pollution etc heating it all up. It's nice out so might venture out in a bit and take some photos with my digital camera I got for Xmas. That's if I can find my Timberlands which I haven't had a chance to wear for about 5 years.I dont think my trainers will quite have enough grip on... lol
Otherwise nice day in keeping warm, big pile of ironing, tin of soup for lunch form the stock cupboard, leftover beef sausage curry from last week for dinner(it will be ok having been in the fridge stead of the freezer wont it?) and the rest of the Lost episodes and my books for later. Trying to get used to not being able to watch tv as my fmate told me last night he will be cancelling the cable next month as Virgin have put it up £8 and we need it to get a signal on even the terrestrial channels.
BBl off to dry my hair before piccytaking time.. May everyone be warm and well. They are going a bit OTT with it locally I hear as every single bus in London is not running. It isnt so bad here we only had a little bit. I can hear noisy kids so I take it the schools are skiving off too. It all seems a little panicky to me.After all it is only the same kind of weather we used to have - ie snow in winter etc - it is just that lately we have been spolied by mild winters.I feel for those who live up North tho as they seem to have had it hard. My friend works in a job where he has to sort out transport routes and I bet he will have a really bad time of it today with road closures etc.My heart goes out to him as his company already are working him into an early grave and he is going grey and ill and he is only in his mids 30s..
Take care everybody..

Silvercharming - just read your posting from yesterday's OS thread. You've got the patience of a saint for putting up with Dave's "friend" and she's got the height of cheek inviting herself round and then not turning up.
Is it just me, or are people in general not good at letting people know that they can't fulfil an invitation, but they don't get in touch to let those waiting know not to wait in, prepare a meal, etc etc. Personally, I think it's the height of bad manners, but that's just me.....0 -

This should take you to a picture of the road outside our complex. I have just watched a van come sideways up to the main road, its back wheels spnning like there is no tomorrow!!! The main road is clearing because of the traffic on it, but the side road is very dodgy and its snowing again, if it freezes tonight it will be like a skating rink tomorrow. The milkman has just got stuck, took 4 men shoving to get him onto snow that was not impacted......hey ho we aint got much money be we do see life from our window!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hi all.
Csarina - no photo!
Beemuzed - best wishes to DS.
Taplady - good luck for today.
Halight - good luck at the Job Centre.
Mrs Mix - sending (((hugs))) to you. This cold weather must be awful for you.
Well, DH has just left for work having had a lot of organising to do.
We have about 3" of snow here and it's still snowing, but only very lilght at the moment.
I must take some photos if I remember.
I've put food out for the birds. I put some on the frozen pond for the little birds (that get scared off by the wood pigeons). I've just been watching a wood pigeon daring himself to walk on the pond to get the food; he gave up in the end, but have you ever seen a wood pigeon with a disgusted look on his face?! He'd already been gobbling up the food he found elsewhere, so he won't go hungry.
Well, I've made bread-and-butter pudding and prepped the veggies for tea. I just have to whiz the hoover round, do a bit more paperwork and then I shall take the afternoon off - I hope.
Keep warm, everyone, and keep safe if you have to go out.

Back from doctors. Snow flurrys are sporadic here. It stops for half an hour and then starts again. Just working out whether it is worth doing a shop at Asda before picking kids up form school/college this afternoon, since i have to go out anyway later. Just thinking that this snow might get much worse over next few days and don't want to travel on icey roads, it freaks me out. It's bad enough getting the kids to school and college.
Well, I think i'm going to go and make a list of what groceries i need to buy. I have an order on tesco.com that i was going to put trhough, but have decided against it as i am fed up of paying the delivery charges and after all i do have a car, it's just handy sometimes, since i don't have the best of health.
Tomorrow my Dad gets some results from the doctor, i'd really appreciate it if you would be so kind as to send up a prayer for him, light a candle, send out positive thoughts etc. He only has 40% of his lungs working on a good day and he has had 3 lots of steroids and antibiotics in recent weeks and none of them have worked. He did a spit test and had a chest x ray a couple of weeks ago and the doctors have sent a letter asking to see him. Thanks in advance!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Good morning all:D
Not posted for a bit, but I have tried to read.
Diva, that's great about Tristan:T I did light a candle and pray:D Whatever happens you know that he is aware of the love and support for him, and that must mean a lot.
mrs ,mix, sorry to hear you've been so bad. You take it carefully, especially in this snow, no running around;)
Well we've got snow too:p About 5-6 inches. You had me worried with your first post PP, knee-high snow :eek:I've GOT to come the mile or so your way later and will walk if the roads aren't better, I really thought I'd have to wear black binbags as I don't have thigh high boots;):rotfl:Glad to read your second post and it's the same as us, phew!!! I've built a little snowman out back, I'm a big kid at heart:o But now I've done that, I'd quite like it to go quickly, hate it when it turns to dirty slush.
Washing is done and now draped on the airers. With the heating up high it should dry, but I bet I get steamy windows, there's no way I'm opening the windows in this:D
I'd already decided to do that potato bake dish Thriftlady. Good warming fare, great served with carrots and sprouts:T While it's in the oven I'll restock the biscuit tins, because it doesn't mind the door being opened:D
Well best get on, keep warm everyone and wrap up well if you go out.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Snowing like crazy here! My poor Dad came back from Scotland last night, set off at 6.00am, got home at 11.15pm! I couldn't get him from the coach stop, as I couldn't get out of our close.
DS has work this afternoon, he'll have to walk!:rotfl:
MSD Really plased to hear about Tristran
N9eav belated Happy Birthday!
Work have sent me a letter saying I have to have a week 9 attendance meeting. They have offered to come to me to hold the meeting. I am going to accept, as I will have an advantage. Not being in the Head's office for a start, and she can see my stair lifts, so she doesn't think I'm making it up!!:T The Union will be representing me too. So I'm prety posiive. I want either re-deployment now, or medical retirement.
Anyway, (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) if you need them.
Have a great day!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
