Morning all. I'm posting on the run as i have to head out for a blood test in a few minutes but just wanted to pop in as i haven't had chance over the weekend.

It snowed here overnight in Staffs, but as i type this, the sun is beginning to shine through the clouds so hopefully it will all melt. I have a neurology appointment tomorrow evening and i don't want to miss it because of icy roads, so please God, no more snow until i have seen the neurologist!

Yesterday i slow cooked a casserole of pork and apples and veggies and it was sumptuous. Really melt in the mouth tasty. I also hand made bread and bread rolls to have with it, Yum. Today i don't know what we will have for our evening meal but i'm sure there is some combination that i can make something with, in the cupboards!

Will be back to read through the thread and to give thanks, after my blood test. Bless you all!

    Good morning all! :hello:

    Diva
    - So glad for the news about Tristan. He, his family and yourself are still in my thoughts. I believe that love and positive thoughts (and positive deeds) are powerful, whether or not you are religious xxx

SWales - :bdaycake: Happy belated birthday!

Taplady -Ugh, you have my sympathy. I hate having those done.

Especially snuggly warming hugs to all who need or want one :grouphug:

An update on Dave's 'friend'. Are you ready for this? After all that the @!*% (insert your own rude name) DIDN'T BOTHER TO TURN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It got to 10 past 10 and I finally decided to call (used Dave's phone so she'd recognise the number).

    HER: Hello
    ME: Where are you?
HER: Oh, I was really tired after I finished work and...
ME: Oh, so you never thought to be POLITE and let us KNOW?!
HER: Will it keep, I could come round tomorrow after work, I'm on an early shift?
ME: (catching my breath that she had the nerve to ask) No. And in any case...
*At this point Dave takes the phone off me rightly guessing I'm about to go mental*
DAVE: Listen, you're completely out of order, Kes has put a lot of work into this even though your behaviour last night was out of order, and you weren't even going to call and apologise for not turning up. I don't think you're welcome in this house until you apologise to her.
    (SHE SAYS SOMETHING TO DAVE)
DAVE: For crying out loud, act your age! You're bang out of order.
    (SHE SAYS SOMETHING ELSE)
    DAVE: Whatever
    (DAVE HANGS UP)

So... I know how her brain works. She'll either turn up uninvited this evening to grovel and make up some bullpoo excuse but not actually apologise, or... she'll disappear off the face of the planet for a month or so before turning up uninvited one evening and acting like nothing even happened. Either way I've told Dave that I don't care what she's got to say, I'm sick of it. If she does turn up and he wants to let her in, that's fine, it's his house too, but I'm not hanging around making small talk with her. AAAARGH! Thank you for letting me let off some steam. My offline friends are the same as you lot, they don't know about this latest incident but they can't understand why I've put up with her this long!

Anyway, rant over. Today I shall be taking all of my violent energies out on our magic reappearing bathroom mould. I'll also be doing what I hope is my last ever shop at Mr T's - stocking up on 'big' stuff like bread flour, washing-up liquid and loo roll that are cheap there. I'm doing it online and I'm planning to pop and ask my elderly neighbours if they want anything added on to it so they don't have to go out. Then, I'm hoping to save some money up while we use it up so I can afford the higher prices at the co-op (or get a cheaper non-supermarket alternative). Dave is poorly in bed again, his tummy still hurts from time to time and this is one of those days. So I'll also be giving him a little TLC.

Snow isn't too bad here, just a centimetre or so really. Not having to go out in it myself, I can't help being irresponsible and thinking it's rather pretty!

Hope everyone's day goes well, if you're going out then remember to WRAP UP WARM!!!

Morning everyone! I hope you're all feeling better than I am? I've got tonsilitis and a good going cold. Have taken the day off work as I feel that I'd be as much use as a wet rag.

No snow here with us in the Hebrides, but it is cold and breezy.

I've got 2 loads of washing out on the line, plus the rags that DH used on the car on Saturday.

Made a roast chicken dinner yesterday with roasted veg, so have got chicken that needs to be used up in something today as well as roast veg for making a lasagne with for later on in the week. I also stripped the carcass and used it for stock and there are 6 good portions of chicken and rice soup in the freezer. :D

I hope that you're all having a good day, take care

    Hi everyone

Don't think the weather knows what to do in Staffs. 5 mins ago was brilliant sunshine, now its snowing again. I walk to work, its mainly through the town so I should be ok, just have to choose between walking boots and wellies :rotfl:

Have put a big pot of mince and veggies in the SC, half will come out for a cottage pie and the other half we will eat tonight with dumplings.

Have had to put my dressing gown in the wash as cleaned the oven before I got dressed. The oven is now clean (ish) but the dressing gown lost the fight!

To all those staying in today, get the duvet and snuggle up (((hugs))) for those who are/have poorlies/have worries.

    Stay warm xxxx

  • Snowing in Worcester but not very thick yet. I don't know if it is expected to get worse (hope so :D :j ) I'm off to my French class soon where I shall no doubt say 'il neige';) .

Still got flaming conjunctivitis in both eyes now, so has OH. Nurse practioner reckons it is bacterial so have got antibiotic drops. Hey ho, could be worse-irritating not painful and deeply unattractive.

Sent the kids off with chicken noodle salad for lunch. First time, but I think they'll enjoy it.

I have no idea what to cook for tea tonight -not meat because I haven't got anything out of the freezer. If I get the small pack of bacon from my meat box out it will defrost in time for me to make a potato, bacon and onion hotpot -just the thing for snowy weather.

    A bientot ;)

    Morning all.

Brr it is all snowy and cold. I hope halight gets snowmen made for the twins.:T

Diva, I only skimmed here the last few days but I lit Tristan's candle. It is still burning and I will keep it going (((hugs))) you must take care of you though and I hope DH's head gets better

nessie ((hugs)) get better soon, sonsillitis is so awful in adults. You need pampering

Taplady bleh, hope it goes ok, they are awful

    beemuzed warm wishes for DS

    Belated birthday for N9eav

Warm hugs tio everyone that needs them this cold snowy day.

I hope I get home from work ok this afternoon, snow is still lying and th4e sky is heavy looking yet. Dinner tonight is HM pizza but I think I may need to get some soup made. Nothing beats soup for this weather. I have some chicken legs in the freezer that I was going to take out and make coq au vin in the SC tomorrow but I may make really chunky chicken soup instead.

I am being such a horror atm. No idea why as the nicotine withdrawal should have been over weeks ago. I'm going from being the Queen !!!!! of Horror Castle to a quivering tearful wreck in 5 mins flat it seems at home. At work I am still the bouncy cheerful supportive person that my patients expect. bah, hopefully it will pass soon

I hope everyone has a lovely day

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just back in from walking Penny! and I'm not going to do that again in a hurry! The snow is deeper than I thought! 7" rough guess and more in the drifts (which she found! I nearly lost her!:D) she is only little and because her coat is wooly, like a sheep all the snow got trapped and she came home with lots of mini snowballs trapped in her fur! :rotfl: I had to put her into the bath to get them out! before she froze!

I now have several towels to wash, 2 rugs to dry out and a pair of jeans to wash but I think she had fun!;) We are now recovering, her by the radiator and me with a cup of inst hot choc (it had gone lumpy but I sifted it in the tea strainer, I was so desperate!).

There are lots of children and parents out building snowmen and having fun, great to see.

(((hugs))) to bemuzzled for ds hope he feels better soon

Off to catch up on the threads and enjoy a :coffee:

DD(15) is delighted as the snow means the school is shut!!!

I managed to convince DH it was not a good idea for him to go out in the car and made us all a cooked breakfast.

Going to strip our bed and wash the bedding while I have a nice hot shower and wash my hair.

Will heat up Sunday leftovers for tonight with some extra roast potato and parsnips and might stir myself to bake an apple pie as a treat for DH!

Really pleased I got lots of shopping in so I don't have to brave the snow and ice.

Had intended to take books back to the library this afternoon as it is just across the road from us , but will see what the weather is like and how I feel.

    Silvercharming

Am I right in thinking that she invited herself for a meal last night, disrupted what you had planned to cook, then did not turn up or let you know?

I hope for your sake that she does make herself scarce for at least a month and if she does turn up you tell her you were on your way out and leave her with DH to entertain her. Tell DH that if she helps herself to your stuff you will call the police!!!

Her behaviour is not just thoughtless - it is plain rude and downright bullying.

Hugs to everyone who could do with one and see you later.
