It took me twice as long as normal to walk into work this morning courtesy of the 4" of snow we've got. Took a bit of a tumble because you can't see where the pavement ends and the road begins - but at least i had a soft landing
It's still snowing here, and I'm beginning to wonder if there are going to be lectures or rehearsals today...
Anyway it's still snowing, but I'm all good - got my last portion of HM soup to tide me over til dinner
oh, the weather outside is frightful
but the fire is so delightful
and since we've no place to go (if only!)
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Very cold here and a couple of inches of snow have settled. Penny has enjoyed it though and turned the back garden into a snowy racetrack! mad pooch! took ages to get her dry again!
I still have to walk her but just around the block will be enough. Once we have dried off I will be bulk cooking some chilli con carne using up a very big tin of kidney beans from approved foods, and extending the minced beef with some soya mince. Should make enough for 8-12 for the freezer.
Great news about Tristan msd! :j I have had my candle burning for him and sent lots of positive thoughts and prayers. I know this works as it helped my friend on more than one occasion!
Stay warm everyone!

Good Morning Everyone! Snow here up to the dogs' "knees"! They love it and have bounded up and down several times! That was half an hour ago and now you'd never know they'd been out as more has covered their tracks. DH had call from his boss cancelling work today, so we shall have a cosy day tucked up here! Do I want to walk into town to the gym later, I ask myself????
Thanks for the good wishes for DS. The pain is more under control this morning so he's hoping the doctors will send him home again. Trouble is, the interval between hospital episodes is getting much smaller. Oh well, fingers crossed I suppose.
Diva - so glad to hear Tristan's responding, more prayers heading his way from here.
Hope all the children missing school enjoy the snow - they don't get that much really in this country. Interesting - around here, those who rarely get out to play normally seem to enjoy being out in this weather - so maybe it'll improve the exercise rate!!
Lunch is likely to be toasted sandwiches with bacon, supper could well be bacon and mushroom rice. (Have found pack of bacon that needs using up pronto!)
Hope you all enjoy today - take great care if you have to drive anywhere - and ((HUGS)) to all in need of one for whatever reason.Resolution:

Bad day for OH yesterday he was in bed from 11.30 - 3.30.......was not sure if he would want his supper be he ate it.

Mrs_Mix - well done to your DS:T the cost of insurance to teenage boys is astronomical! my DS pays about £1700 a year and he is 19.
thanks for the good wishes for later redruby and HalightDo what you love :happyhear0 -
OH & DD have just walked down to Lidl to get a few things. OH said no cars on the roads and snow about 6 inches deep in places. School text through and has confirmed that its closed as is ALL schools in the borough. In for another 5inches by the end of today. We are in a cul de sac and nobody has even attempted to move their cars because of how deep the snow is.
I have emailed Travelodge about Thursday bookings for 2 days to see family member. I know its a real long shot but have asked if at all possible if I can move dates free of charge due to the adverse weather...I can but ask.
DD asked if she could do any jobs around the house...so she is polishing and vacuming upstairs and tidying out under her bed.
Take care
PP

Morning all,
I put my 5 OS pleasures on the other thread this morning - they are all rolled into one - SCHOOLS CLOSED AND WE CAN ALL GO AND THROW SNOWBALLS AND BUILD SNOWMEN!!!
Kids are very happy, dogs not quite as happy but still raring to go - well, they ARE springer spaniels! Nothing much fazes them...
I also work at a school but in this instance admin staff are not expected to go in - fat chance as we are all snowed in anyway!
Have the BM on, DW and WM all going great guns. HM veg soup is in the SC for lunch. Dinner will be Shepherd's Pie (or is it Cottage Pie?)
Lovely news about Tristan - the power of prayer is always very underated!
Hope you all have a warm, relaxing and safe day. Enjoy this unexpected pleasure....:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Amount £21862:eek:April 2013 = £20414:T April 2014 = £11000 :TApril 2015 = £9500 :T April 2016 = £7200:T

have just had call from gym, wondering if I'm going in at midday? Clearly the girl was hoping she could close (it's really coming down heavily here again) - so I've re-scheduled for Wednesday! It's nice when someone else makes the decision for you! Hoping to persuade DH that we should both take the dogs (border collies) for a longish tramp later on.
Hester - sorry the admin staff are still expected to go in. Why? I used to close school because staff would have a dangerous journey (all rural, untreated roads!) and that applied to all staff. It really makes me angry the way some schools still operate a "teaching versus admin" policy. Grrh! on your behalf!Resolution:
