Morning again,
Well, my OH went to the Drs this morning and has been given some turbo-boost pain pills that are supposed to kick a migraine (if taken early enough) in 30 mins, so that is good. I am still going to talk to my homeopath later and see if they can suggest anything too.
Mioliere - Because my OH works two jobs, they say he earns too much - the fact that for his DJing, he drives 100 miles round trip three nights a week, isn't taken into account. The means test they base it on does not allow for petrol or car expenses, they just look at the gross wage. So of course it looks like we earn a lot more than we do.
donny-gal - thank you for that suggestion, I hadn't thought of that, but we may just bite the bullet and carry on as we are.
halight - You don't have to 'sell' me on the power of positive thought, I was a therapist/life coach for 13 yrs and saw it work again and again. And I have always believed in the power of prayer, no matter what 'God' you worship.
Pen-pin - was just seeing the snow on the news - wow.. it's really mild here, sun is peeping from behind grey clouds and it's warmer than it was yesterday because that awful freezing wind has moved on. Hope everyone with snow, is taking care of themselves.
Chipps - lovely to hear from you!
Taplady - thinking of you
Silvercharming - Well if she does turn up on the doorstep in a month, I hope you or Dave refuse to let her in, saying you are too tired for guests or something, she sounds completely impossible.
katholicos - thinking of your dad.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone - making potato and bacon layer for dinner, nice and warming.

I am so glad I am Old Style when I am snowed in. Have filled the bird feeders and that is as far as I am venturing out today. We are used to snow up here so I have loads of little tasks that I keep for days I don't go out. A pan of soup is on the cooker and bread in the oven ( no bread maker it died from overuse) :rotfl: I have knitting to do and a shelf of the bookcase to sort through as some books need to be added to my Amazon collection. May tidy out some of my wardrobe and put some stuff that doesnt fit on ebay or just to the charity shop. Also have tidied and orgaised my loft this last few months and have a few boxes to go through yet. Don't know what treasures they may contain. :T But what do you all do on days you are confined to the house? Are you bored or are you organised?:D0

Morning Chums,
well, snowed in good and proper here in North Kent .I had to get up in the night for the loo, and outside my house in the road at 1.30 in the morning were three young lasses playing snowballs !!!barking or what. Its snowing again at the moment, and more heavy falls are forecast this afternoon .All the schools in Kent seem to have closed, and my college is shut, so no studying for me tonight. My grandchildren are thilled as not only do they get the day off they can play in it as well.
Re the central heating grant, I too had a warm front grant central heating replacement for my boiler and one radiator and had to pay £750 on top of the grant of £2700.00 that was allowed.I couldn't believe how much it cost to replace an old boiler and install just one rad to add to the 6
I already have installed. Mind you they did a good job, and my house is rarely cold now, as I paid extra to get more insulation put in the roof.
It's still a lot to find though especially if your a bit broke anyway.
Just looked out of the window, and the snow is really coming down now.No trips out for me today ,but I have lots of bread and milk and veggies so I don't need anything .
If anyone is venturing out, and you have neighbours who are elderly or a bit infirm could you knock on their door and see if they need anything, even if not a friendly face to someone on their own may cheer their day up.Or even if a young Mum has a new-born she won't want to take it out on a day like today
Both my DD's have rung to make sure I'm o.k. I am going to sit and watch t.v. this afternoon for a change .Can't go out so I amy as well have a cosy day indoors with lots of hot drinks and a duvet.
<<<hugs >>> to those who are down or sad or lonely. And for the rest of you if you do go out do take great care and wrap up warm
Cheers everyone

We've got couple of inches of snow here, and the dogs have been racing round the garden knocking each other over in it, and barking with joy:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: They haven't seen much snow before:D

...well I've put the slow cooker on with some stovies, made a blackcurrant pie and some shortbread biscuits, and now am just about to crank up Photoshop, and get to grips with the calendar for July 08. OK, I know I'm a tad behind, but we haven't had much snow lately.........0

I too am never bored when stuck indoors .Today I am going to make some semolina pudding as I have quite a bit of milk spare and then some of Twinks hob-nobs. This afternoon I shall curl up with the duvet and the t.v. and maybe some knitting. I have more than enough food in my cupboards and really don't need to venture out until Friday. I have lots of things to potter about with ,reading listening to the wireless ect and of cousre if I need to chat I have my computer . HM leek and tattie soup for lunch today and I am going to get a cassrole of beef out of the freezer for dinner tonight I will have that with garlicy mash spuds and mixed veg. No, being stuck indoors doesn't bother me at all. I can always look out of the window at the children playing snowballs in the street0

Money_saving_Diva wrote: »God this house is cold! Was told we might be eligable for a grant to have central heating fitted, but apparently we would have to pay around £500 towards it and I know that doesn't sound much but to us it's virtually unreachable so we may have to stay as we are.
MSD, I have PM'd you re this.......0 -

I'm still in my jim jams and on the sofa. I have been watching people slipping and sliding all over the place and have decided that I am not going anywhere today... except I really feel like egg on toast for lunch and I need to drop off my competition entries... and I'd quite like to go to the cinema... erm... choices choices!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0
