The papers may be calling it "Snow Chaos", but at least for me, it's been wonderful! Made it as far as the bus stop, and started to worry as when I tried calling the office, there was no-one there. Got a call from OH to say all the buses were stopped, so came home, and have managed to do laundry, tidy front room, bake 2 loaves, and make a pot of bean & veg soup for lunch, so the snow is making me even more OS! OH has gone to have a snowball fight with his friends, I'm sure he's just a big kid at heart! Best wishes and HM woolly socks to all...

Gorgeous photos, Bargainbird - what lovely children you have!

It stopped snowing and now it's started again. The office work I should have done didn't get done because I spent an hour on the phone to my Mum. She lives in Wiltshire and I wanted to make sure she was OK - which she is. She's well stocked up and happily knitting.

I've had my lunch and don't feel like doing anything now so I'm taking a couple of hours off to sit and knit in front of the TV.

    Hope everyone is coping.

Csarina - I can see the photo now, thanks!

    (((Hugs))) to Hilstep.

MSD - working on gross wages is totally unrealistic, isn't it? Especially when you see how much the Government takes.

Well, I'm off to put the kettle on.

    Afternoon all!

Not caught up yet, so big hugs where needed, and congratulations where they belong as well!

Went out to see a friend for coffee this morning, very nice to catch up, and always nice if someone else is making the drinks! Went into Asda on the way home to pick up some frozen veg, thought if the weather is going to make everything grind to a halt we'd best have a few more bags of basics in. Was planning to shop on Friday, but all done now, so if I'm snowed in it'll be fine LOL!

Found Country Life unsalted butter on offer at 47p, absolute bargain, so have replenished my baking supplies. They also had value sardines at 18p a tin, so will be throwing them into tomato based pasta sauces to get some fish into the kids, only dd1 really likes it on its own, others will eat it in sauce if its disguised! Also the dried marrowfat peas are 20p a pack, so we shall be having mushy peas a fair bit in the near future I think!!!

OS wise I have swished and swiped the kitchen, mopped the floor twice as Maisie cat was sick after I'd done it, darned animal sat on a stool watching me, then as I put the mop away she started making funny noises and necessitated the mop being put back into service! My bathroom is cleaned, washing folded and just to be put away, last bits finishing drying on the airers. Have put on dinner and bm is almost finished.

Lunch, cheese and onion soup for me, if I get fat it'll be because of eating too much of this! Kids took hm pasta salad with tom sauce, peppers and bacon, clementine, banana, choc sponge cake made by dd2 last night.

Dinner will be cottage pie for the kids, mince, veg and oats are in moski and making the kitchen smell lovely, potato is done and will be popped on top to brown before I go to pick up dd3 and her pal from PE club.

Had a nice, but very exhausting day yesterday. Took dd1 and four of her pals shopping, to teach them how to bargain hunt. We visited charity shops, a revelation to all of them except my dd, and Primark and superdrug, amongst other places. They all managed a new outfit and make up and not one of them spent more than £15, and that included the lunch they bought themselves in KFC, they were so excited on the way home! I've promised to take them again, they want to find more bargain places to shop LOL! Perhaps I should encourage them to bring snacks next time and be really OS! We then came back here and I showed them how to make twinks and cottage pie - they were all surprised how easy it is!

Time for a cuppa and a catch up now, have a good day all xx

We are having a wonderful day. Both schools are closed so the boys are at home. We have had snowball fights and built a snowman. We had soup and hotdogs for lunch. Only me and the youngest boy at home now. The rest of the boys are all out playing in the snow with friends. I don't think my older 2 will be at school tomorrow either because they go to school outside London.

Edit: Forgot to say I told my folks about OH & I buying a house and they took it very well alhtough Mum doesn't want me to move out of Edinburgh. They live 40 miles south and they think we should just buy a flat for the mean time.
Ah well leaving it for now so they can get used to the idea.....lol
My folks are meeting OH's folks this weekend for the first time...ARGH!!!!Plan on getting them all drunk at the rugby so don't have to worry about them!lol

  • Also happy Imbolc to those who follow that.

(I don't, but it doesn't hurt to be polite).

Little bear has found a stash of toys that were sent up from some cousins (who I don't ever expect to see except at funerals) but they were stashed where we thought he couldn't find them in his room. I was wrong.

He is a very snotty little bear.

Nothing OS - we will be eating out of the freezer tonight, one of the frozen stews. Thank you for OS.

    Hugs to all.

When little bear does deign to have a nap I shall do some warming ironing.
