We had to go out this morning as MIL was coming out of hospital, it took us almost an hour to get over to her flat, got everything sorted and warmed up for her. Settled her down and did her something to eat, had a chat then came home, I am glad we did as its getting quite thick now.

Well, my OH went to the Drs this morning and has been given some turbo-boost pain pills that are supposed to kick a migraine (if taken early enough) in 30 mins, so that is good. I am still going to talk to my homeopath later and see if they can suggest anything too.
Mioliere - Because my OH works two jobs, they say he earns too much - the fact that for his DJing, he drives 100 miles round trip three nights a week, isn't taken into account. The means test they base it on does not allow for petrol or car expenses, they just look at the gross wage. So of course it looks like we earn a lot more than we do.
donny-gal - thank you for that suggestion, I hadn't thought of that, but we may just bite the bullet and carry on as we are.
halight - You don't have to 'sell' me on the power of positive thought, I was a therapist/life coach for 13 yrs and saw it work again and again. And I have always believed in the power of prayer, no matter what 'God' you worship.
Pen-pin - was just seeing the snow on the news - wow.. it's really mild here, sun is peeping from behind grey clouds and it's warmer than it was yesterday because that awful freezing wind has moved on. Hope everyone with snow, is taking care of themselves.
Chipps - lovely to hear from you!
Taplady - thinking of you
Silvercharming - Well if she does turn up on the doorstep in a month, I hope you or Dave refuse to let her in, saying you are too tired for guests or something, she sounds completely impossible.
katholicos - thinking of your dad.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone - making potato and bacon layer for dinner, nice and warming.
Diva.x

It's been snowing all day here. I watched it get heavier and heavier, then thought "that's pretty much perfect - time to go for a walk" :j so I did, and stopped in the shop and bought myself some chocolate buttons
Master tru raced in about an hour ago yelling "WHERE'S THE SLEDGE? Me, Tom and Joe are going up the hill" - they're all 18 years old :rotfl: He's been working up in the Cotswolds and the weather was getting worse (there's a horrible hill on the main road towards Cirencester which is dangerous at the best of times) so the blokes all got sent home early.
Anyone wanna come for tea? I have quiches, cottage pies, chicken and cakes, all cooked todayBulletproof0 -

Evening all! Quite a bit of snow here - approaching a foot. I scraped as much as I could off the car this morning before somewhat gingerly setting off.....it was a bit dodgy getting out of the town I live in but the motorways weren't too bad thankfully. Still took me an hour and a half to get to work though rather than the 40 minutes it is usually! The decision was taken to close the depot at 2.30pm so I left just before 3pm. Nice to be home so early on a Monday!
MrEH has just got home too. Usually when the weather is grim his trains get cancelled but not today thank goodness. It's still snowing - hasn't stopped all day.
Tea tonight will be toad in the hole - I'll do roasties as a treat I think too. Don't often get the time to do them mid week and as we didn't have a roast dinner yesterday..... Off now to get some of the flylady stuff done for today I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal - a la leftovers from Sunday lunch bulked out with extra parsnips and roast potatoes with more green veg. Had to make vegggie burgers for DD and her friend who had come for tea.
Will get DD(23) to help me make up our bed with fresh bedding and I have my dressing gown drying on a radiator for later. Don't want to embarass DD by being a "lady in a dressing gown" while her friend is here.
Got library books renewed so I don't have to pay a fine and got a few new books by my favourite authors as well!:j
DH has just braved the snow to take our wheelie bin out for collection tomorrow morning.
Halight
Good luck with the possible job!!!!
JackieO
So pleased about your DD's job!!!!
Going to make myself a pot of tea and try to sneak some of the ginger biscuits I bought while I was out "for visitors!" Cough!!!!!;)"This site is addictive!"
