Your son has already proven he's not responsible enough to be let loose on the road. Do you really need to know the answer to the question you just asked?

I don't know, but it will prove difficult/expensive to insure him. So make sure you get firm insurance quotes before you go putting any money down.

I don't know for sure, but I would have thought that it would run from when he is legally entitled to drive - not sure whether it would start from 16 (when he can ride a moped), or 17 (when he can drive a car).

I understood that a ban would start from the time a licence is gained... so your son would be banned from the day his full driving licence is issued... Lets all hope that he learnt a lesson from being banned at such a young age...

Check the paperwork that the magistrates would have issued. It should indicate the date that it ends. Suspect it is from date of conviction, although if you are in any doubt at all its worth contacting the clerk of the court as driving whilst disqualified is a serious business!

Might be best to ask the court that gave him the ban. He doesn't want to chance being out in charge of a vehicle without an appropriate licence.

Go check the insurance first. Even brand new legal drivers with no form pay thousands for their first insurance policy.
  • The only thing he should be allowed on is his feet! How would you of liked it if he managed to run a little kid over or an elderly person and your on about getting him a moped!!! are you for real?? you need some wake up pills!
  • So 7 months after he was in court, getting a ban, and a fine (he must have stolen the vehicle) you want to get your poor little angel a moped cos his legs are tired.
    ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!!
You need to show him that his actions were unacceptable, and punish him not reward his awful behavior.
If he was to injure or kill any member of my family he would get his nice new moped wrapped round his neck and that is for starters
