my concern centres around the diagnosis of the injured cat...how does the OP know that the only damage is ripped out claws? she doesn't know what happened to the cat so a visit to the vet for a check over seems like the kindest thing to do.
for example, when i was at my vets once a young couple bought a staffie pup into the surgery, the puppy was wimpering and it's foot was swollen. they thought it had got a thorn in it's foot...but no, the vet had a feel around and suspected a broken bone.
Completely agree. I am worried that the op may only be assuming it was a cat fight when it could be something more serious. Often a cat that has been hit by a car can appear fit and well but the claws can tell the tale.
Personally I wouldn't be able to watch an animal suffer and I can't believe that she hasn't even consulted the vet. Maybe we are being judgemental but having pets is a privilege not a right and the op should be prepared for any costs involved.

Glad...thank you for that.
Evilsheep....I requested it to be removed because i was (and still am) sick of people jumping on every word I write....it doesnt mean that it was my request that had it deleted.
I have directed people to a conversation that I had with FC about having difficulties writing at times and yet people still want to be nasty.
It happens every thread I go on......even when im being as nice as pie.
I have no wish to have this thread closed.0 -
Does anyone else think it's odd that the OP signed off straight after posting this thread? Looks like an AE or a troll to me tbh.The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

@ the OP: To reiterate what many sensible people have already said, stop using the peroxide *right now* and switch to salt water, which is a natural and safe antiseptic. You really should take your cat to a vet, especially if he is showing signs of being in pain. If you really are set on not going to the vet,you need to
1) Keep the wounds absolutely spotlessly clean with warm salt water and
2) Examine the wounds minutely when you do so to look for signs of infection. Signs of infection include the skin around the wound becoming pink or red, the area around the wound becoming hot to the touch, the wounds leaking anything other than a completely clear fluid and/or the cat beginning to show signs of pain again.
If the cat is still in pain you must get him treatment somehow - there are a variety of charities you can try, mostly mentioned on this thread.
3) If he's been in a fight chances are there are other injuries. Check him over thoroughly and clean any wounds you find. If the other wounds are big, infected, very sore or if he has any bite wounds you must get him to a vet's. Cat bites are notorious for getting infected.
*Do not give him any painkillers not prescribed by a vet!* Cats process drugs in very different ways to humans and other animals - aspirin for e.g. is highly toxic to cats.
I hope your cat gets better soon, and I'd recommend that you sort a few things out when you have the spare cash, namely;
Get your cat spayed - as well as the direct effects of an injury from a fight, many cat diseases (like FIV ) are spread through biting.
Make friends with a vet - take your cat for a few checkups and get to know your vet so you can ask for advice/help/credit in situations like this
Get a book about cats - for minor problems/questions it's ever-so-useful to have somewhere reliable to look things up.
I hope that was of some help. Please note I am not a vet, or a vet student, just someone who used to live on a farm and had to develop a practical approach to animal health. I have a bit of experience (note the word 'bit') in patching up injured farm cats, and I haven't told you to do anything that I haven't done myself, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily the best thing to do.
