A huge majority of officers are not paid enough to be able to live in London, hence the incentive of free travel of 50 miles beyond London (which IMO is a bit too far).

And it has nothing to do with company A coming to a mutual arrangement with company B.

Well what is it? Is it to do with the prospect of being on duty? Or is it to do with low wages?

    Consistency would be good.

And if it is to do with low wages, can I ask how you reconcile this with our guys in the Forces who earn much, much less and who face much greater risks but who have to pay for their public transport?

    Strawman.

Start a thread about it Discussion Time if it bothers you.

There are a lot of jealous people on here. Someone is getting something for nothing and they don't like it.

Its funny isn't it? No sensible argument to put forward so we are all jealous (despite being on a lot more money than anyone in the Police) or being "bothered".

Neither applies in my case I hasten to add.

Oh and I note no response to the comparison to our Armed Forces guys who are on a lot less money for much, much greater risk. I don't think there is an answer.

Anyway, off to bed, good night.

Rubbish. Copper isn't there to protect the train. He is having a free ride.

If there was a problem on the train, he would almost certainly say that there was nothing he could without "backup".

    Tozzer,

You have obviously never met a burly 6' foot 4" rugby playing police officer acting in the 'line of duty'........if you had you would not be so quick to dish out such a 'guttless' comment.:embarasse

Get a life sunshine..............but just hope the 'Sweeney' have had their dinner

    Tozzer indeed!!!;)

Sorry thats a rubbish post. Why should someone who is tall and plays rugby impress?

Have a read of the above, take a deep breath and post something less insulting, more educational and a little more conducive to the cause you purport to represent.

    Brute force impresses nobody.

Sorry mate only saw "Start a thread about it Discussion Time if it bothers you." which I don't think really takes the discussion any further forward.

Errr... us posties up here get free bus travel. We don't need to be in uniform, just have our ID Badges with us.Never taken advantage of this as I'm a lazy cow who drives everywhere. Maybe in Wales the train companies have came to the same agreement with the police?
