Npower door knockers!! why???

My take on this is very straight forward. My house is 'my castle'. If I haven't invited someone to my house, and it's not the emergency services responding to a genuine emergency such as my roof on fire or my accepted service callers like the milkman or postman, then they have no right to knock on my door and interrupt my privacy.
As far as I am concerned, door-to-door sales personnel from any business or service industry who knock on my door uninvited are the lowest form of pond life on the planet, and will be treated accordingly ... end of ...

As you seem to say in the second quote, there is no single supplier that is cheapest for everyone.
Some suppliers are cheap for low users but expensive for high users and vice versa.
As with everything, sweeping generalisations quickly fall apart.
In your eagerness to make a 'superior type' post, you have selectively extracted two different quotes from two different posts out of context.
In respect of the first, I was trying to explain the exasperation many customers feel being bombarded with price data, door step salespersons, adverts TV and press telling them one thing when only one product will be the cheapest for their circumstances.
I fully understand the Energy Market, but many Customers are bewildered by it all and that bewilderment is increasing. That's why I offer advice from experience and knowledge to friends and family.
The second point was to suggest that it has all become a nonsense for an essential commodity. We shouldn't be subjected to this ongoing charade of competiton and confusion where different prices apply to different users. The whole lot should be streamlined and simplified not made more and more complex as has happened.
The end result is the supply of energy. It's the same from each company. We don't need all these variations. It's not a product like M&S Food versus Aldi cheap and cheerful.
Please feel free to wordsmith my post again if you desire...... :T0 -
Sorry backfoot, didn't mean to come across as superior. Plenty of people come on these boards asking who the cheapest supplier is - assuming that there is one overall leader (as suggested by you in the first quote).
I was merely trying to make it clear that this isn't the case. It isn't even the case in a single pricing region.
As to 'shouldn't be subject to this ongoing charade' - we are. The decision was made by the elected representatives of the day. To change it back you would need to persuade the current electred representatives to go along with it, or elect new ones who will.
In the short/medium term we are better focussing on what individuals can do to reduce their bills (energy efficiency, choosing the most appropriate tariff).0 -
Thank you for the apology.
In the short term, I agree and do all I can to help those in confusion about prices.
What I was suggesting, for readers and hopefully elected reps that the system has broken, has become nonsensical, hasn't produced cost savings and pricing has become over complicated.etc.etc. It's time something changed because like the Banks, soft touch Regulation hasn't worked.
Action needs to be taken in the short term to stop this runaway train.Of course to renationalise would be a huge step but you wouldn't of thought it possible for the banks.....but.....look what's happened to another broken and greedy Sector and its Executives.0 -
I once had a man knock on my door claiming he was there to read my meter, I stupidly let him in. He checked the meter then asked me to sign to say that he had read my meter, again me being stupid I just signed without reading. Around 1-2 weeks later I had a letter through the door saying thankyou for switching your gas over to us (n-power). I was fuming.
Now when people knock on the door I refuse to let them in unless they are from my supplier & have ID.
As for the energy reps who knock my door none of them understand "no sorry I am not interested", they are rude, interrupt you, speak over you. Now I just say as above & then shut the door, they can argue with someone else.0 -
Just had someone from npower at the door. At least I'm not shaking in fury like I was the last time it happened.
I say over and over that I am not interested in changing energy suppliers and that I would not talk to a doorstep seller if I were (I certainly wouldn't allow them in my home). Unfortunately, they refuse to go when I ask them to leave. I'm afraid next time I will simply shut the door in his/her face.
This type of selling verges on intimidation and should be illegal.0 -
Had two guys from npower yesterday, they rang the bell every hour until 7pm (4 times) until I had to open the door.
Them: 'Oh hello thats a nice car, me mate as one, you like it'
Me: Well of course I do its mine, what do you want?
them: 'We are from npower, blah blah blah'
I tried to explain I am looking after my 18 month old baby and that I cant get the bill to show him so he can try and save me money, but the guy wouldnt take no for an answer. Went on about price cuts, which I know about thanks Martin!
If any npower employees are reading this, please tell your door to door knockers to be more polite, dont ring on doors more than once, and have some manners...0 -
