Do you know that 90% of people changing there gas and electricity supplier with companys knocking on your door.
Also only 50% of people have change there supplier.
Look at it that 50% of the house in the uk are just throwing money away when they coud be making a massive saving.
And dont forget that all the comparison sites on the internet are making big bucks from the companys.
Please be fair to the honest advisers out there.
If you find a bad one complain to the company so we can get rid of them as we dont want them working in this industry.

  • i think your wrong to say that all cold callers should be banned.
I get angry with lolly pop men/women using zebra crossings... infuriates me, whats the point, but i dont think they should be banned just because they are annoying.

Its not just their cold callers. I was approached by a guy in a shopping center. Gave me the whole you will get £100 bonus and we'll be cheaper speal. But when I said I wanted to compare their unit rates rather what he was quoting as a direct debit price (which he did knowing nothing about my home and energy use) and would not sign a contract there and then weirdly he backed off. Now if a company can really save me money surely they wouldn't mind me checking if they actually were cheapest.

i dont see why you dont just have a quote then rather than moaning, we are in a recession and if you can save money great.
if your busy tell us, if you do it online, tell us, if you just arn't interested. tell us.

The energysure rule is that if it is a cold calling area (which is implimented by council) or have a no cold calling sign on the door, try once, as it might be an old sign on the door, or the person on that road might not mind recieving a quote. Once they have told you no, leave the premisise immdiatly and dont return.

dont forget that although you may have npower, british gas, southern electric, scottish power, edf etc knocking your door, the next person hasnt been to your address before, so just tell them kindly, we apprichate that we are in your shoes, which we are at our own addresses, but put yourselves in our shoes, when its raining its -1degrees, all you have to do is do it nicely!

Your more than welcome to knock at my door any time,, if this is your approach,,,

unfortunately the service you give is not recieved on the whole(in my experience)

When ever i quote the above, i get hit with pressure sales and rehearsed smart answers,, its not really a problem for me, but for many it is, some people believe it..

Good luck to the honest sales people. The general feeling and perception though is door knockers cant be trusted..

They are providing a service for statistical reasons,,,,,, same as you,, knock on ten doors ,, you will find people willing to listen ,even a couple to sign up,, one or two who will abuse you and slam the door in your face!!

Ten kids crossing at different times,, most Will stop and be courteous, one or two think its above them to stop and take a chance , or simply dont see a small child, and slam a car into them!!!!!

please dont use such a analogy as you have on this matter..

maybe you have a point though..

vulnerable people die on crossings because of selfish, ignorant self centered drivers not aware of their surroundings..

vulnerable people die in their homes because of selfish, ignorant , greedy energy companies not aware of their customers needs.

when one is regulated with high vis crossing patrols, provided by the government the statistics fall

when the other is regulated by a spineless regulator unwilling to take action, not regulated by the government..............?

So , next time you are in 'that' house with the average working family, think about young johnny, crossing that simple black and white safe route, with the annoying , life saving trained crossing patrol,

Then think about him in bed at night, shivering, freezing cold, the reason? because mummy and daddy had a call, they are struggling to pay the £1300 p.a cost for energy in their home, but some nice person, out of the good of their heart(not annoying at all) popped round to offer them. 10% possible cuts with a possible rise if they dont fix or cap and use energy saver 18 or weblifer 22 or winter fix 2015, or what ever over priced mind boggling tariff springs to mind!!!!

like i said..................... my door was silent from energy ( third party) reps when the prices went up..... dont let us on you are doing us a favour now!!!!!!!!!
