Npower door knockers!! why???

I am a team manager for one of the companys yes npower.
And i look after 16 sales adviser who are all 100% honest.
One of my jobs is to check that they are doing the job correct is to go round with then on the doors as i did today with one of my female advisers.
And what about the customers being rude to them eg We went called at a customers today and worked his bills out over the last 12 months usage and he would have been paying £179 a month on dual fuel with us a saving of £158 a year with us.
he went mental at the female adviser as he only wanted to pay £80 a month dual fuel when she advised him that £80 a month would put him in debt he just started useing racial abuse at her and that left her tears.
So you see it can be a very hard job to do.
And i do agree that the industry has the odd bad apple but so does every industry.
And we do weed them out.
But it is the good ones that always takes the battering for the bad ones.0 -
I know any work places has its bad apples. What I object to and that goes for anyone cold calling is that I can make my own mind up thank you, I can do my own research. I dont want people at my door, so please respect the notice I put up. Sadly very few do, they dont think it applies to them when I put in out right in front of there eyes in my front porch just under the door bell
I also dont like being harassed at the supermarket, mainly Morrison's EDF being the main culprit along with AA0 -
Just do what I did, listen to them for a bit, go over the figures, then bring out your laptop go to a comparison site, type in the figures you were comparing, oh look theres the tariff he going on about down at about 25th place.0

The reason that most sales people ignore these are because the companys are realy not cold calling in the eyes of the law.
But to there is a solution to this all npower staff have a leaflet
WOULDYOU PREFER NOT TO BE CONTACTED AT HOME?
Please as the adviser for one and it will take your details of all our databases and if we had to call again them we would be breaking the law.

What you should do is to complain to the supermarket to get them removed but dont forget that the supermarket charges the company up to £1000 a day for them being there0 -
I am a door to door sales woman for e-on.
It's a hard job and doesnt pay a lot.. £11-12k majority of the companies.
I get discusted hearing about what some people are trying to pull off to get you to sign up to earn commision.
I personally could not sleep at night if i pulled the wool over a customers eyes to get a quick sale. Fortunatly e-on have a computer when programme in all the other companies rates, so i cannot lie about the savings that you may or maynot get.
I get angry at these scallywag slimy salesmen, i really do because it makes it hard for us honest ones, i am extremly honest, if i cannot make a saving i simply say "stay where you are".
What I would say though, something i have learnt now by doing the job myself is that these people, (me included) whether they are honest or not, are withstanding the cold and the abuse and the doors slamming in our faces, it is a horrible job to do, but in this current climate there is not a lot of scope to move, as soon as it is possible i am out.
People just dont want callers on their doorstep anymore.
Bit of honest advise here, way to check the right provider, do not use the price you pay to compare, use your units.
If you have the last years bills work out how many units you have used over the year and put that into the seperate companies websites, do not use comparison sites, as how do you know whether they have the person who pays the most commision on top. always look for offers too, bonus points like edf with nectar and eon with tesco club card.
I would also set up an internet account with your current provider and put on monthly meter readings, you have an idea of how much you use and also stops estimated bills.
Please though, if you are not interested just say.... it can get quite disheartening when people are rude and nasty, when all we are trying to do is pay our mortgages.NatWest Loan - £12,090.06 Mum/Dad - £14,750 TOTAL £26,840.06As of 01/01/2010 - DFW Date - 01/12/2014 59 MONTHS TO GO0 -
Well said cheekymonkey20.
The hand held laptops are the way forward and EON was the first company to bring them in and have proved that they work npower will be 100% laptop by August.0 -
They are brill when they work lol....
stops all the fibs, and bringing out of figures out of the air.. which has given us all a bad name as salesmenNatWest Loan - £12,090.06 Mum/Dad - £14,750 TOTAL £26,840.06As of 01/01/2010 - DFW Date - 01/12/2014 59 MONTHS TO GO0 -
Thanks
Well they might not accept it but nonetheless it is cold calling
"Cold calling is the process of approaching prospective customers or clients, typically via telephone, who were not expecting such an interaction. The word "cold" is used because the person receiving the call is not expecting a call or has not specifically asked to be contacted by a sales person. Cold calls can also be done in person rather than over the phone. This type of cold call is also referred to as door to door. A number of advocacy groups such as PIRGs and Greenpeace use this technique to spread information and sell memberships at the same time."
I realise supermarkets may charge and they are entitled to do that, but that doesn't mean that many customers like it, myself included.
I dont see why I should approach companies to stop pestering me, a simply sign issued by trading standards should sufficeI agree that you can make your own mind up we are only there to advise the customers that theycan save money depending on who you are with and your payment method.

i dont see why you dont just have a quote then rather than moaning, we are in a recession and if you can save money great.
if your busy tell us, if you do it online, tell us, if you just arn't interested. tell us.
The energysure rule is that if it is a cold calling area (which is implimented by council) or have a no cold calling sign on the door, try once, as it might be an old sign on the door, or the person on that road might not mind recieving a quote. Once they have told you no, leave the premisise immdiatly and dont return.
dont forget that although you may have npower, british gas, southern electric, scottish power, edf etc knocking your door, the next person hasnt been to your address before, so just tell them kindly, we apprichate that we are in your shoes, which we are at our own addresses, but put yourselves in our shoes, when its raining its -1degrees, all you have to do is do it nicely!NatWest Loan - £12,090.06 Mum/Dad - £14,750 TOTAL £26,840.06As of 01/01/2010 - DFW Date - 01/12/2014 59 MONTHS TO GO0 -
I worked most of my working life outside and know full well what its like
I can save money by using the internet and searching for myself and saving some money and not being lied to . I am not saying all salesman do but I have experienced this and countless others have too
I have every right to be annoyed of unwelcome callers. I do my utmost to not have unsolicited calls, spam you name it, its not my fault people who call cant read or ignore a simply authorised notice which I dont like having displayed but I do because I dont want people at my door trying to flog there warez
The sooner cold calling is banned the better.0
