Just had a door knocker from npower.

Why send people round when they haven't announced price cuts???

Gave me the usual crQP, when i let him know i was quite clued up on energy suppliers, especially npower because they screwed me over a few years back he tried a new tactic on me..

We are like Direct line, we dont show up on any comparison sites or any where on the Internet!!! Even with out any price cuts they are the cheapest around!! apparently!!

I asked why they where knocking, he said npower was looking to lower the price in the coming weeks, i said it would make sense to knock then!! not on my door.. if i am going to change, ill take the commission thank you very much!!!

I know they are only earning a living, why the need to talk so much crQp??

  • Its all going to kick off within a month or 2, supplier after supplier lowering prices trying to attract new customers, its going to be very competitive this year, NPower are just trying to get ahead of the game and then hope you stay with them when prices are lowered.
They have made some nice profits during 2008.........

I had one of these 3rd party agents for nPower turn up on my doorstep last September. He refused to leave my property until he had my "reference number" from my bill (my supply number most likely). In the end he went after I was about to call the police.

I then complained to nPower and finally got a call from a senior complaints manager. Then a few weeks later out of the blue I got a letter from them apologising for the agent and saying that I would get a cheque through the post in compensation. 2 weeks later £75 turns up. For those of you who might say that I was money grabbing, at no point did I mention or even think about compensation.

nPower not showing up on comparison sites? Don't make me laugh - when I switched back on November, they were all over the sites, coming out very cheap due to some 'creative' application of annual bonus schemes. So unless they changed policies drastically in the last couple of months...

Two of them at my door, trying to make me feel like i was going to miss out, lol, said he could guarantee to beat what i was paying now, without the imminent price cuts!! didn't even ask who i was with and what tariff i was on!!!

His parting words where " well , if you wont let me help you save money...."
Think quite highly of themselves dont they!!

Cant remember any companies knocking on my door last year when it was price hike after another!!!

Just sent an NPower rep away from my door. I had to say 'no' some 20 times. In the end I was was just repeating, 'no, no, no, no ...' whilst he just kept talking!

He said he was surprised that I was turning down £100 of free money, that they would give me for signing up on dual fuel by d/d. I've just looked on NPower's website and it says that,

*After you’ve been with npower and paid by monthly Direct Debit without a break for 12 months, you’ll receive a discount off your energy bill. Stay with us and continue to pay in this way and you’ll get a £100 annual discount if you buy both electricity and gas, or £20 if you buy just one fuel. You’ll receive £40 annual discount for paying each quarterly bill in full by variable Direct Debit and taking both fuels or £10 for single fuel.

Doesn't sound like he was talking about the same deal, does it? Salesman's patter I would suggest, unless anyone else has been offered a genuine £100 signing up bonus. Is this legal? I think perhaps NOT.
