    Evening!

Right, I've dug out some info on going beyond 40 weeks, and I have to say it really isn;t as scary as they try to make out. Yes, the risk of the baby being stillborn does pretty much double from 40 to 42 weeks...

Sorry but I got that far and actually said "No bl00dy way!" outloud..

Family experience of a stillbirth means I will not knowingly do anything that increases the risk of that happening.

I'm firmly in the "curry and roping in OH" camp from 38 weeks onwards! :o

Totally understand where you're coming from, but it is worth reading just a little bit further!

Let's face it - almost everything is 'a risk' it's HOW MUCH of a risk that matters.

Not trying to convert you but you gotta be informed to make a choice. :)and you can have a stillbirth before your due date too.

and Its too late I'm pretty sure that I have the 'P word' I was gonna mention it to MW when I see her 2mo do you know/think she'll do anything or should I see my GP:confused: First timers look away now... I finally got the courage to feel up there and something was definitly encroaching on the space IYKWIM I'm traumatised!

:eek:I may be a weirdo for this but the longest I have not worn knickers for is probably the 4 hours of labour with Chris, I can't stand the thought of going commando for anything:o

They can't do anything when you're pg anyway. No harm in mentioning it (although yr mw may want to check it for herself!!!). I'm to get mine 'looked at' at 8 week check up and take it from there - although it's def I need something doing to it, just not sure what yet (and I'm staying away from the hyst word:eek: , even though that's what they've mentioned - I may be coming up 39 but I'm still too young for one of those!!!!!)

Pelvic floor exercises can help minor p's, I believe. And a p can make stress incontinence worse (although not always, apparently) And you can have things like TVT (google it for info) Ooh - that reminds me - google something like pelvic floor partnership (think that's the site) - quite good info, from memory (hmm- what's a memory........)

You can take a guess as to what the 'something' encroaching is - if it's at the top and is hard cartilage type stuff to feel it's possibly your uterus - a bulge at the front of your v is poss your bladder, and a bulge at the back is poss your rectum..... (Hubs went for a full medical last week and I said he had to have finger test for prostate, but dr refused :( Still had to have his danglies cupped and do the coughing thing and then the back danglies squished a bit to check for lumps - I said it's nothing compared to what we endure tho'!)

Does a prolapse stop you having a sweep (if needs be)?
  • FG, is it safe to be on depo that long? I had it for about 18mo but didn't fancy having it any longer than that...

No, its not advised to take if for that long, but they didn't seem to mind

I'm sorry. I read an article a while ago about a lady who's baby died the day before her EDD and it was heartbreaking. I don;t know that there is a ever a wholly safe time in pregnancy, but thankfully most babies do make it out OK!

Elle - don't forget that 42 weeks is when "they" want to induce you in my area.
so women are taking that risk everyday although finding decent stats on the subject is quite difficult.
Chances are that as a first timer you may well end up in that situation (providing your dates are correct obv)

hope that doesn't scare you! :D

With all 3 of mine I tried curry, long walks (well, not that one for no 3 cos of spd), rlt, jasmine and clary sage essential oils, pineapple and lots of s*x (try every day, up to 3x a day  - DH said he felt like a performing seal!!) - and each one of them was STILL late!! I think some people just have slightly diff 'cooking' times - my friend had all 4 of hers 2 weeks early, whereas I seem to cook mine for 41 weeks (I'd quite like this one to be early) With DD I fell on my bump (arms were in the air holding up my breakable xmas shopping to protect it!!) in the middle of a road a week before she was due - and she was still late and only started after a sweep  If this one follows suit and is late then it will arrive in May half term hols - not the most convenient with all the kids home - I'm hoping it will have a better sense of timing and choose to arrive a couple of days early instead :rotfl: :rotfl:
