I wouldn't go to the next without phoning them first coz I have never seen a next that actually stocks any maternity

I'm hating maternity shopping too!! I thought it would be easier now I'm a sz12 (Apparently size 8 people don't get preg either ) but i now have evn less choice as my M&S don't have the maternity stuff in store anymore :(

OOh - hello! where have you been?!

The out of town Next in Chelt DID stock maternity - 3 1/2 years ago when I was pg with DS2 - but it may well have changed (bah!) so good idea :D

As to those talking about pads/ mooncups etc, I always use maternity pads for 2 packs worth - however long that lasts! - and then go onto always nighttimes. I've never doubled up on mat pads, but do change fairly regularly (weak bladder = lots of loo visits anyway:o ) However, all my pgs have had bleeds lasting 6-7 weeks :( Oh, for a 3 weeker - I'm sure they're just an urban myth!

My reg periods are heavy (and clotty - tmi?!:o ) and I can't use a mooncup, however much I like the idea - I can't use anything internal cos of my prolapse (shut your eyes for that word, Sami!!!) Apparently minor prolapses can be helped by tampons (they hold it up!) but mine's a bit too far gone :( ....... So I always end up on pads nowadays.

Have to say that the first time you can go to bed after bubs without undies on (feeding bra to keep breast pads in place and knickers for pads) is great :D :rotfl: Quite liberating!!! Although if you are wearing a tshirt / nightshirt and have a just- fed baby projectile vomit said feed all over your uncovered 'foof' it is very messy!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ah - motherhood - and the joys thereof!!!!

I remember being in a girls only assembly at 14 and they were handing out free tampax. All the other girls were chucking them around and giggling but I felt like a complete idiot as I didn't know what they were. Next period I spent ages in the bathroom trying to figure them out but when I asked my mum for some she said they were to expensive. When I told my best friend she told her mum and she used to buy them for me until I earnt money of my own.

Uhm... your mum sounds lovely. And I thought my horrible RE teacher who wouldn't let me go for a walk was bad.

I guess this might be a "it's different for everyone" question, but will ask anyway..

When baby's movements get strong enough for me to feel them for definite, how many times a day do you tend to feel it? At the minute, it feels a bit like bubbles popping or swirling/spinning movements and lasts a few minutes at a time, maybe 3-4 times a day. What's the next step?

Thanks (if you even get what I mean!) :D

I've had a habit of "donating" sanitary towels to friends with girls of that kinda age - a huge mixed bunch of different sizes and brands... I know money is a bit tight and well I buy them on offer :) So when I see them I drop some off because "I'm just so fussy and/or send DH out for some and he bought the wrong kind again" so do they want them as I don't want to waste them blah blah...
And ofcourse when I fell pregnant it was a grand excuse for handing over a huge box full :D
I know she'd buy them for them if she could afford to but with 3 girls and herself it gets pretty pricey! I figure even if I can't buy them enough for all the time it must be nice to have them for a change when I pop down :)

  • Thats about the size of it Elle... There's no set amount but you find they get into a pattern of being fidgety for a while, then sleeping... Then waking... Eventually they're awake a bit longer but the pattern kind of stays... and continues after they're born....
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hmmmm Roo tends to move a lot I think... then she'll have a day of "resting" with only minor movement and next day she's back to her olympic martial arts training several times a day :) I hope she's not this energetic when she pops out!

That's definitely one of those 'it's different for everyone' type questions, I think. I have to say I only tend to notice babe when I'm sitting down (you moving about can send them to sleep) - This one starts about 9 o'clock at night. It also has a good go at about 5am (I'm often awake then!) and around 10am and 2-3pm. I don't notice it more than that - but if I'm aware I haven't noticed one set I sit down with a cuppa and biscuits and prod bump until it moves (I'm a bad mother before it's born!!:rotfl: )
