My braxton hicks are getting really stong...every time I get up and move around I end up practically doubled over. Been trying to finish packing my hospital bag today (hubby has a meeting in worcester tomorrow so we are both convinced that something will happen) and I haven't got overly far with it...
A couple of questions...
How many maternity pads should I pack - currently have put in 2 packets...and how many should I have in total (currently have 6 packets I think)
And how many breast pads do you think I will need? Currently have packed 15 pairs (2 different sorts) which I think is excessive but haven't really got a clue!
I am aiming for as short a stay in hospital as possible! Can obviously send hubby home for things if I need to but was hoping to have the first 24 -36 hours sorted if I do need to stay in.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
You should need about 24 pads and the same for breast pads. They usually provide pads during and just after labour/delivery anyway, but 24 will do you a few days including spare ones to hold against yourself when you go to the loo...
Take some mints too if you have any... I found that my mouth was bleurgh after having babies for some reason.0 -

Speaking of notes, now that I've got them out to have a look, anyone know what TPHA (my result says Neg) and HB (my result says 12.8) are??tiamai_d wrote:...spare ones to hold against yourself when you go to the loo...

Thanks tia - I know I am going to bleed a lot but the more I hear about it the more incredulous I am that it is possible to bleed that much!!

LOL elle - it was the first time someone mentioned 'doubling up' maternity pads that I had an OMG moment - have you seen how big those things are? What exactly do braxton hicks feel like. I should know really with this being my third baby but i am not so sure i have had them before. However this time I too get incredible pain when walking and have done for 2 weeks now. Much like a really bad stitch to the point i can hardly walk.0 -

TPHA = syphilis test and HB is haemoglobin level in blood (12.8 is good for pg and means no nasty iron tablets!)

MFD, I didn't bleed too badly after I had Aimee and it only lasted about 3 weeks all together... Maybe its because I've had some pretty hideous periods in the past... But I didn't need to double up pads and I didn't bleed over everything... I just took one pack of pads into the hospital.. Can't remember how many breastpads I took but I didn't even use 100 before my supply evened out... Still have half the box I bought last time... Recon 5yo breast pads will be ok? lol
My iron was 12.4 and they've written plat 128 next to it... No idea what that means though...
And we just ordered a new washing machine! Was from electrical 123.com and should be coming Thursday... Goodbye bedroom carpet <sob> Hubby researched it and said it was coming up best in the price range so I just bought it... Thinking now I should of at least read the reviews myself but never mind!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
