OK so we really want to go to Edinburgh at the weekend so we thought we could just hire a car for the weekend, but oh no! Carmelle has lost her blooming paper part of her licence and the hire company need this bit

i sometimes wonder if i should be here too, but when i ask the midwives at the hospital about returning to work they say it is fine to do so.
i must sound horrible and like i put work before my baby but i honestly dont.0 -
Just wanted to say hello to an earlier poster that left me a message. I read the message as I was cooking dinner and then had to go to work that night so never managed to reply. This thread grows so fast that it is impossible to find now as it is so far back.
You left me a message to say you too were an older mum and your husband worrys about supporting the whole family alone.
Thanks for the response hope all is well and hope to catch up with you soon.

...and do you tell them that you go into work early every day and do other peoples work and get all stressed out or do you say you work in an office?
You know how I feel, I am not going to argue with you.

I always found that proper mouse traps, cadburys fruit and nit and leave the bodied for a day or two works best. They hate the smell of their dead...
My parents house was riddled with them (downstairs never bothered setting traps or anything and were filthy so lots of food). They keep two ferrets, smokey and bandit (as pets). One day smokey and bandit were having a run about in the house and smokey disapeared. No idea where she went! A few days later a scratching was heard under the sink and out popped a very fat smokey from a hole that we guess lead to the cavity between the walls. They haven't had mice since! :rotfl:
My french onion soup is delish btw
Sorry to hear about your car troubles AM, hoep you get something sorted out.0 -
Another older one here - I'm 38, will be 39 when this one arrives. I have DD (11), DS1 (will be 9) and DS2 (3) DH is 39.
We came out with nuchal of high risk of Downs (1:47) - age risk was 1:150 but had high nuchal measurement and high hormone levels. However CVS showed babe all clear of chromosonal problems. It's hard though. DH also suffering from stress and depression over looming redundancy (to the extent he was on an amber alert for suicide - although has improved since then:o )
We're having a loft conversion (at the moment - should be finished next month - but not decorating/ flooring etc, so MAY get it done before babe arrives (we're known for being slow at house improvements!)) to fit us all inHowever, this adds to DH's stress levels - feels he needs to be 'caveman' and provide for everyone.
Hey look found you after all!
Thanks for the message it was appreciated. We are coming to terms with our news, whtehr the baby is healthy is our main concern. We will manage short term in our house if we have too but we can't extend or attic conversion we looked into that already. If it really is a buyers market we may be as well to make the move sooner rather than later however the upheaval of moving will be great for both us and the kids and I don't want to resent the new baby for having to move.
I keep telling myself whatever will be will be seems to be the best way to stay calm for now.

Have you phoned them to ask? I know that some hire companies can check with the DVLA that you have a proper license and not too many points. Has to be done during certain hours though, but might be worth doing? I know we've hired without any license before - don't know if it is all hire companies, but worth checking.

Re mice - We have a Pest X ultrasonic doobery which *touch wood* is really good... although the only place they try and get in now is where the pipes are under the kitchen sink (so we stuffed bubble wrap down the hole - didn't want to use expanding foam incase there was a problem with the plumbing at some point) We have traps behind the kick plates though been a long time since I have jumped out of my skin at an unexpected "snap" :rotfl: Although they are only tiny field mice and usually only one at a time - it is just the fact that they try and get in... I am a wimp and don't do dead animals though - it has to wait until dh gets home or if it is outside until some wildlife does what they do.
When doing work to the house over the past few years though we have located and blocked up two other points of entryThere is no way we can keep them out of the garage though - ds was very upset to lose one of his footballs (must have fallen out of one of the tubs hanging up high so it can't be "moused")
Hello & congrats to Helen and panambi.
