oh Tine! not what you need when you've already got in-laws hanging around  have you got a friend you can go and hide with for an hour or 2? have a coffee and cake or something and then think about it when you more chilled.
Some docs are happy to write you a sick note even when they know u don't really need one and others aren't to free and easy but worth a try if thats what you want.
I admit I went off on maternity 95% sure I wouldn't be going back so I was quite pleased when I got made redundant whilst I was on unpaid leave esp as they gave me double what they had to :D (which is probably what u earn in a week :p) but It paid off three quarters of my car loan

  • Sorry Mrs T, I know you have had problems with this is the past. Do you actually have anything in your contract with regards to working at home? If you dont perhaps you could suggest a meeting with your heads / managers and explain to them that its more beneficial to you and them to let you work at home. If that isnt an option I dont think you would have much of a problem being signed off by your doctor or midwife. Sorry I cant be of much help but Im sure you feel better for getting it off your chest. ;)

Greent I'm glad you posted that I was struggling with putting it into words... Feely I object to them "telling" you anything like "you can't leave" but I would implore you to please stay in until they say you're both fit to go home :) Just want you both to be all OK and happy and what not - try not to think about it as "stuck" in hospital - I've had a couple of nights in as you know and it's really not THAT bad :) yeah I whinge that I want a private room but even that isn't the end of the world really... it's only a night or two and you'll have people running after you instead of having to do it all yourself ;) Gotta be a bonus?

Oh we've had great fun with this - HRs attitude is if I am too "ill" to come into the office then I should be signed off sick - however that isn't my managers view as she knows how short staffed we are and knows I put in more than a days work from home if I don't come in. The issue is the company doesn't HAVE a working from home policy so the official line is exception rather than the rule.

So I don't see much choice other than getting signed off sick at the moment - what bugs me is that this just isn't me... I'm terrible for working even if I am poorly and I was even working when the doc signed me off sick last time - because no-one else could do the reporting and explain it to the customer :( So them getting annoying about it just really gets up my nose... *sigh*

It does feel a little like icing on the cake... loosing both grandparents, then having MIL staying and now work being difficult again... one thing after another... *sigh* Going to try and make an appointment with doc for tomorrow... And ofcourse the darned hip and lower back pain.

Scan went well this morning. My dates are right. I am 6+4. Saw (and heard) lovely strong heartbeat - 120 bpm. Baby is a bit bigger than average for dates - 9mm already! - but all looks well.

Next scan and antenatal appt is 17 March! Feels a long time away.

I just have to know its an option, if you know what I mean. I'm less likely to panic and get upset if I know I can just walk out if I had to. I've been alright at appointments so far, and was okay when I was being monitored for the afternoon, so it should be alright.

Could really do with some help/guidance from some with knowledge of panic disorders, but Mental Health Team here are next to useless. I'm getting discharged in March, despite having been given no treatment. I won't even have had the baby by then!

    I'm having a bad day today :o

Mrs T. I saw MW first and blubbered my whole work story to her. She then picked which GP she thought would be best for me and wrote them a letter. GP was all ready when I walked in with the sick note pad. Why not start there! X. Take care.
Too many children, too little time!!!
