I am lurking a lot but wanted to add a few things.

I got the grobag egg thingy when DD was born 3 years ago. It felt extravagant at the time but I have been pleased with it (as our house it quite cold) so it is a quick check that her room is the right temperature.

On the working thing, I went back to work full time (9-5 5 days) when DD was 6 months old. Mortgage to pay etc etc. I felt guilty initially but she had a good time at nursery etc and it has been fine for us. I feel a bit guilty now when she wants me to see her swimming or at ballet etc but such is life. We are not millionaires so we have to do what we have to do.

I am due in July for the next one, and I will return to full time work after 6 months but this time I am likely to work a little from home throughout my maternity leave as I work for a small company who depend on me and I would feel guilty to let them down too!

As I have said time and time again, once you become a mother there is guilt everywhere. Guilt if you go back to work, guilt if you don't and therefore you don't contibute to the household, guilt to your employer - the list is endless (for me, at least!)

Mrs T. I saw MW first and blubbered my whole work story to her. She then picked which GP she thought would be best for me and wrote them a letter. GP was all ready when I walked in with the sick note pad. Why not start there! X. Take care.

Oddly enough my GP is nicer than my midwife :o I've managed to get an appointment with my normal GP tomorrow and I'll just have to build up the courage to tell him and the heck with blubbing if I get upset... Much rather cry infront of him than that sourfaced moo of a midwife I have... I wanna nice midwife too!!!!!! *insert tantrum emoticon here*

Anyway I have an appointment with him (and not the duty GP like last week - though he's nice then he's not as nice as MY gp who's lovely...) so fingers crossed for tomorrow afternoon :)

Just heard back from hospital about private room - guessing I'll be in the general population... £225 for a private room!   That's just for a room - not private treatment btw! JUST the room!I'd have gone up to £100 but £225?????

  • I just have to know its an option, if you know what I mean. I'm less likely to panic and get upset if I know I can just walk out if I had to. I've been alright at appointments so far, and was okay when I was being monitored for the afternoon, so it should be alright.

Could really do with some help/guidance from some with knowledge of panic disorders, but Mental Health Team here are next to useless. I'm getting discharged in March, despite having been given no treatment. I won't even have had the baby by then!

    I'm having a bad day today :o

So far I have been told off every time I see the midwife....my BMI has gone from 41 to 44.... (oh well these things happen) but my obstetrician (Sp?) who is a lovely Jamaican bloke just says (in a very strong accent) "You are a big girl and the NHS has guidelines for big girls but none of my big girls have had problems when giving birth. They are there to scare you into getting skinny, and anyway everyone has an equal risk of all these problems."

He then booked me in for glucose tollerance test and a review with an aneasthetist and said, "it jsut because thats the guidelines"

A very jolly bloke, but now when my midwife has a go I tell her that the obstetrician said I would be fine as long as I eat healthily, and stick to his donts.... Dont drink, Dont smoke, Dont do drugs, and dont be stupid.

Mmmmmm I guess just speak with midwife and explain your fears to her? and explain that it's the "You're not allowed out" feeling that makes you feel upset and trapped - so long as they explain you would be better staying but you have the choice you will be ok then hopefully she can pass it on to them? Maybe she'd also know of any support groups around you could speak to?

Love that! Don't be stupid :) aww bless him!

I think there ARE increased risks when you're a larger person but they are increased - not exclusive to :) OK so you're big - so what. Look after yourself and listen to the ADVICE they give you ;) Most of it is only advice - they can't FORCE you :)

I like the advice I have been given it seems a lot less scary than what alot of "big girls" seem to be given.

I think had some one been nasty to me I would either start crying or thump them... thsi seems to be my most recent coping mechanism ....mainly crying, with thumping reserved for my annoying brother :D

Notice how I work less and post more when work pee me off? :) I loose all my focus and motivation when they start faffing around and being difficult and I get nothing done... *sigh* why can't they just leave me alone and let me do my ruddy job!

I can't believe how many of you have not so nice MW's. The day of my work problems I rang the no. my MW gave me if I needed her. Turns out it was her personal mobile and she was on day off. She arrived at my house for a cuppa 5 mins later and stayed nearly 2 hours until I calmed down. She was fantastic!
Too many children, too little time!!!

    Hello

Well I am a Mummy now!!!! To a little girl called Annabel Rose. She was born at 11.39am, Friday 6th february and weighed 8lbs 10oz, with a huge shock of dark hair like mummy and daddy.

I'm not going to post my birth story just now, but the home birth didn't work out - nothing to do with home births though - little Annabel and I weren't well and we needed to be blue lighted to the hospital :( She was in neonatal care for a while and I was in high dependency so poor hubby had to run between us for a few days. I just got home and although a bit sore and VERY tired I'm so in love.

I promise to comeback and fill in the blanks at a later date (soon hopefully).
