I'm not 100% positive of it, and I had some spotting last week as well. I think by tomorrow I'll be 6+4, but I could actually be 10+4! When I spoke to doctor last week about chicken pox scare, he said he'd organise a scan for me tomorrow which is also my first antenatal appointment.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, as its MSE, but I have all my antenatal care, and the birth itself privately after a really bad experience on the NHS with my first pregnancy. It's our one decadence, but worth every penny IMHO!

Nothing wrong with going private - so long as you are getting the best price for going private as possible ;)

Out of interest how much will it be likley to cost you? It's something I looked at too but never got round to asking - the hospitals web site here merely says "contact for price" - jolly helpful...

Oohh.. I like hearing about different experiences - I'm curious about the differences :) Do you still have baby in a NHS hospital? (please pardon my ignorance!)

I have no idea if going private is an option in my part of the country.. doubtful! We'd probably end up at Leeds or something and the travelling would cost as much as the actual treatment!

Gulp - will find out tomorrow how much!

I'm having this one at the Portland (all being well) and that's where I had the last two. Now bearing in mind, DS is (just) 9 and DD is (almost) 8, it cost about £5k for DS (for C Section, 5 days in hospital and all antenatal care and scans), and a bit less for DD as she was a VBAC. I did end up staying in hospital for longer after DD though as I was quite poorly but fortunately my health insurance covered this as it wasn't a standard birth complication.

Obviously with the passage of time, it will be more by now. Will let you know as soon as I know. I think the reason why websites are vague is because you pay a certain amount to the hospital (which is fixed) and then you pay your consultant (or midwife if having a midwife only birth) separately and each consultant can set their own rates.

It is a private hospital, not an NHS one, but it has round the clock doctors and a special care baby unit if you need it. Fortunately we live in London, and the journey to the hospital by car is only about 20 minutes (so long as baby doesn't come at rush hour of course) so it works for us.

    What does OH think?

    quote]

DH and all his family REALLY want to know, but my family and I were adamant we didn't want to know. But as the scan date is getting nearer, I want to know what I'll be getting!

I want to find out as I have it in my head and have since first finding out I was pregnant, that it will be a boy (Probably because I am one of 4 girls and 2 of DH's cousins who are due within 6 months of me are having girls too, so probability wise I am thinking this must be a Boy!:o ).

I am finding it hard to think of girls names or look at pink things and always refer to baby as 'he'. So I am thinking if they tell me it's a girl I can get used to the idea before it comes along. Don't get me wrong, I just want a healthy baby above all else, so don't mind either sex. But I will need to get my head around it being a girl if that is the case.

Bet you wish you hadn't have asked after all that! :o :rotfl:

No, I know exactly what you mean! Everyone around me seems convinced ours is a girl and OH always says "she". I have no strong feelings either way but I think I'm getting swept up in the girl thing and I'll need some time to get my head around it if "she" turns out to be "he"!

I certainly can't take another 20 weeks of guessing and OH saying "she" only for me to follow it up with "it might be a boy!" several times a day!

I neeeeeed to know... RIGHT NOW! *stamps foot* :o

Oh, I never even thought about somewhere like The Portland.. I was imagining somewhere tiny like the little private hospital in our town where you go for knee replacements if the NHS list is too long! :o I'm in my own little bubble in "village life" up here.. can't contemplate city life and having everything close by! :D

I have been to London for four long weekends plus a week long trip (in the last ten years) and I love visiting but somehow I'm always glad to get home :)

    Hey ladies...

Well I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. The feeling sick has kicked in today. I've had a couple of queasy moments today but I'm not complaining as I had some brownish bleeding on thursday. Only when I wiped & not loads but enough to make me slow down & have a very chilled out few days.

I went to see my Doctor on friday. She is lovely & pregnant herself so she knows exactly how you feel! I've got an appointment at EPAU on wednesday afternoon so scan will hopefully confirm that all is well!

Sami Bee - Do I need to talk to you about joining the FB group? x
for fb just click on my name above my picture and then on my hompage to find it and PM your name unless its the same or obvious when matched to ur MSE name (I'm thinking I''l know when ur request comes through ;))

Try not to worry about bleeding it sounds very much like what I had and the doc's scanned be to be sure, they think it was most likely implantation bleed or related to having my IUS removed (10 days before conception, only stopped bleeding 5 days before "C" day)
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
