Hi ladies, I'm catching up! I've been lurking (just like AF!). As soon as I go to log on to post I get distracted by my babies
.
My DH has the patience of a saint. They say opposites attract and its certaintly true in our case! Reading some posts makes me appreciate him more (but I would never tell him that!
:D).
MFD, bless your DSS! Wise beyond his years (but I still think Spike is way cool!).
Moses Baskets - I couldn't manage without mine. We have a static stand for downstairs and a rocking one for upstairs and carry him around in it. We have a crib in our bedroom and will use that when he gets a bit bigger but for now he looks snug as a bug in the MB! You can pay as much as you dare but there are cheaper options in places such as Argos.
Heating - I love central heating! :j When DH is cold he puts a jumper on meanwhile I just flick a switch! :rotfl:
Shellsuit, hope your friend and LO are doing well.
AM, glad your Nanna is OK.
Tara, hope you are closer to reaching a decision!
Molly, go on - you know you just need to know the flavour!!
Lots of hugs to Cybermum x
And finally, lots of hugs and snugs to all who need them :grouphug:

Elle and anyone else interested you might find the following going private story interesting
Makes me wish I was in NI
NI maternity care is pretty good anyway even if not going private in my opinion.
Only real difference is that you only see your consultant for the 1st scan, not the middle one or one at 34 weeks and again if you go term, you see your consultant to arrange induction.
Most of us have the same midwife throughout, and they are linked to your GPs surgery as is your HV.
I know a few friends who asked for an early scan cuz something just didnt feel right to them, and they got it !!
I got one cuz I fainted !!
All in all our care is quite good, but then there is only the option of going private if you live near Belfast as it is all NHS hospitals and although you can go private in htem I dont think there is that much of a difference in the care you receive other than being allowed to choose your consultant and get a private room on requestThe two best things I have done with my life

I think NI care sounds really good from all the stories I hear
Right I'm gonna sign off for a bit just thought I'd let you know I went to mothercare and spent £55on a pair of jeans £35, a top with easy access for BFing £14 and some slippers £6. I wanted another pair of jeans but I wan't 100% sure of them and I'm hoping M&S has some like I got last time coz they were fab but they only had a few crappy bits in the store so will have to look online.
and Elle in M&S i got these
mmmmm  (thats Chris's hand pointing them out just in case bless him!)0 -
Goodnight ladies - I'm bored of today and feel I'd be much better in bed.
Zzzzzzz.
Before I go - what's this egg thing people might want or not want?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -
My original plan was to wait and see but the P&T was in the Kiddicare sale and was too good to miss, I don't really like my old pram so I decided it would still get plenty of use.
Chris likes walking for about 5 or 10 mins but then gets tired at the moment so I'm not holding out too much hope of him walking everywhere.
I spotted this thing in an old catalogue the other day, which could be a good alternative to a board?
I've had a look at those before, She's only a small 2 yo though (still in 18-23 trousers- little shorty legs like me lol!) I don't think she would be big enough for one of thoseI like the idea of the litaf sit/step boards but would be worried about fitting it to either of my 2 doubles, as one is a side by side and i'm not sure that could handle the weight of 3 and my other pram is a mutsy urban, i have a duo seat which i mainly use at the moment and ordered a mutsy step up board hoping that i could have the 2 youngest in the pram and one on the step up board but she's just really wary of that so far. I found out my due date today so have around 23 weeks to get her used to it, if not... perhaps i'm going to need a triple pram after all arrrrrgh lol
If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
The egg is the one for the nursery right? That lights a different colour if temp is not right?

tara - In your shoes I would ask myself "How long are we going to live here?" and "Realsitically how much would the work cost and can we afford the payments?"
My reasoning is this : we are in our forever house so the work that we do we do for our benefit. Adding value etc really doesn't come into it but that would be different if we thought we would need to move in 5/10years... Sometimes you need to forget what the news/papers say as they are geared towards the business side of things iykwim? For us this is our home - I know for a fact that we paid too much for it - but I (ooops we) wanted it. To put it into contexted there are 7 houses here I think most of our neighbours have been here for at least 20 years - houses here just don't come up for sale very often - where we moved from there was always a house on our street up for sale
So if you felt that your family would receive the benefit from the work over the period of time you want to stay there and you can afford it I would have everything done - and then enjoy the extra space
cybermum - glad you are ok now!
Nicki - I hope you get on well tomorrow - the most important thing is that you are happy with the care you are going to receive - relaxed mummy = happy world!0
