Goodnight ladies - I'm bored of today and feel I'd be much better in bed.
Zzzzzzz.
Before I go - what's this egg thing people might want or not want?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grobag-Egg/dp/B000DZF1WE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1234214554&sr=8-1 - I think!

I want a walnut whip now
Eating a penguin which isn't quite hitting the spot

I've been looking for an egg for a while, cheapest place to buy one is amazon where they are £15 delivered.
But there are a few places where the are doing buy 2 grobags get an egg free, Kiddicare is one of these. I cannot recommend grobags highly enough so that seems like a fab deal to me.
There are literally hundreds of eggs on ebay but they are still going for around £15 once you factor in the postage so IMO you might as well get one from amazon for about the same price.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
I have 'The Egg' saved to my favourites. Think its one of those things that is a bit extravagant as its not entirely nescessary but I will get one for my birthday in April!!! Is this how it will now be forever more when an egg thermometer is the most exciting thing I have to look forward to!!Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0

Can I ask a car question as lots of you seem to be buying new ones in anticipation of baby.
We have two kids already aged 7 (soon to be 8) and 9 (only just) so they will be in booster seats for another few years. Our existing car only has 2 three point seat belts in the back, so bump is a good excuse to buy a new one, as apart from anything else I only just fit in the back seat with two in boosters and there's no chance that I will be able to with post birth bulge (and less chance of OH being able to!) Added to this, I'm visited a few times a year by my aged parents who don't drive in London so it would be good really to have a people carrier perhaps so that we could go out as a family when they're here. However, I'm not a particularly confident driver and whilst I feel comfortable driving our saloon car, would be intimidated by something which looks like a bus...
So with all that in mind, what cars do those of you with bigger families recommend, and which ones should we steer well clear of? Ideally a 7 seater.
We've got a Ford S-max (7 seater, MPV, rather than People Carrier) Have had it since Sept 06 - DHs company car. We looked at a 7 seater Toyota (teeny), a Touran (could have got loads of spec for the money, but DH said it was too van like) (No offence to anyone who has got one!) and a Zafira (which I liked but DH said was dated in comparison to the S-Max (then virtually brand new to the market)
The S-Max is reasonable to run (we priced it up to run and buy, as DH is under threat of redundancy and has been for months). The middle row of seats can all move independently and can each fit a booster/ car seat on (think the Zafira is a split bench 2/3 : 1/3 - we had one for a couple of weeks when the Smax was bumped and went in to be repaired) and the back row of seats are a nice size too. It has cubbies to store stuff (eg sunglasses) and there are blowers in the middle row for hot/ cold air. The windows for the rear row are also a decent size - some of them in other cars have teeny tiny windows. Oh, and it has (or did have whe we got it and also last time I checked) the largest boot capacity in its class - even with all 3 rows of seats you do have some boot space (more than zafira) It also looks more like a car than some other MPVs (think Touran & DH's van comment) but is just taller. It is a tad wider inside than the zafira.
We're taking it to the south of France this summer (with a 2 month old - are we mad!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: ) and it will fit the 6 of us nicely, along with luggage, baby stuff etc (although I have to confess I am good at minimal packing - we did a fortnight in Florida for 5 of us (DS2 was 22 months) with 4 hand luggage sized suitcases - check in staff couldn't believe it - and that included me taking a pack of nappies with us :rotfl: (Oh, and before anyone thinks we are totally mad to drive to S of France with a teeny babe, we're putting the car on the motorail - we get on, go into a 6 berth cabin, sleep overnight and wake up in the morning in S France, where we get fed breakfast whilst they unload the cars - fab!!) And then do it in reverse for the return journey -all part of the adventure for the other 3 children!
Oh, and whilst the SMAx is obviously bigger than a 'normal' car, it isn't any longer than our old estate. It's wider, sure, but it can fit (just about ok) into non parent and child spaces (for those times when the parent spaces at tesco are taken up by vans, caravans and disabled people sitting in their cars whilst wife visits the cashpoint, cos the cashpoint is 5 ft away from the parent space and 50 ft from the disabled spaces  . Oh, and then those parents who have children with them, but either the children are big or 1 parent stays in the car with small child(ren) and other parent goes and shops:mad: )
rant over;)

ooh - forgot to say, I'm not a fan (personally) of those 6 seater cars with 3 in front, 3 behind (think that's the honda frx/ frv? and fiat (multipla?/ multiplo?) - but it depends if you'll ever use the front seat for a child, I suppose....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
All this talk of cars. I am not having anymore children until i'm due to change my Smart car in 3 years time !!! I have enough trouble with 2 seats! Having said that hubby has a mitsubishi space wagon (7 seats) and a Mercedes A class (5 seats), so I guess theres room for a few more children if I change my mind!Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0
