Blimey condoms and mooncups, you can tell it's after 9pm. Have wondered whether to try the mooncup, but like kim-ley am wary by it's appearance alone.
Anyone on Microgynon? Is it vegan? Have not got any packets to check......this forum now knows more about me than my mum does0 -

Me and DD start our day with porridge, made with fortified oat milk, and tahini, with raisins and banana added. Yummy, and gives most of our RDA of calcium.
Also remember if you buy organic milks they are not fortified as these cannot get organic certification.
Kim-ley- The mooncup really isn't as scary as it looks. I've used it for a few years. It's not as bad as non applicator tampons IME I have found it much more comfortable than any other product I have ever used (as long as you trim the stalk! Ouchie!) Also found that period cramps are reduced. Which I don't understand, how that works? But def a bonus!I need to buy a new one though as have now had DD.

One really comforting warm breakfast (or just when you need it) is porridge, milk, and an Alpro or Provamel dessert mixed in. I have it if I know I'm going to have a busy day and might not be able to stop for snacks/will be having a late lunch, as it really fills you up.
Alternatively, I make smoothies with soya/rice milk, s. yoghurt, any juice and fruit lying about, chopped nuts, seeds and oats - as well as a great filling breakfast it's also good to take into work and having during the day if you're a bit low on snackage. I also find prunes are great for moving everything along a bit, and give smoothies a very slightly chocolately taste.
I love smoothie makers as you make it to just the consistency you want; more often than not I make them really thick so they're more of a flavoured yoghurt I can spoon in rather than drink? I've lately been making more smoothies than usual, and literally just chucking in whatever is to hand, but don't think you can beat a bit of berry.
twinkle-star - made my first smoothie with leafy greens today, and you're right, you can't notice the sweet/savoury thang! I got a reduced packet (59p for mixed leafy greens) and after a bit of here and there, I used it all up in one serving.....yum! :T0 -

Pros...
... vegan
... cost savings over the long-term
... green (production, waste, packaging, local production)
... comfortable (once you've got the hang of it)
... you don't have to carry lots of stuff around with you
... you don't have to rush off to restock
... hygenic (bung it in the top rack of the DW if you can't be bothered to boil it)
... reduced chemical exposure
... discrete
... as someone has mentioned, reduced period pain
... no risk of TSS
... no bits of cotton wool getting left behind...
... no rushing to the loo to change (lasts a lot longer... so don't worry about overrunning meetings)
... makes you aware of the state of your pelvic floor muscles
... makes you more aware of your cycle too...
Cons...
... a bit of indignity when you're getting the hang of it :rotfl:
... you're friends may think you're wierd (until they're converted)
I really do wish I'd known about it and tried it YEARS ago. Have a look at the mooncup thread and you'll find a lot of people feel the same.
Be brave! With all the other changes you're making this one seems pretty small really!0 -
Another vote here for the good old mooncup!
I also use washable pads as backup during my very heavy days.
Natracare pads/tampons aren't bad either.0 -

Am ashamed to say I did know about it a few years ago when a friend's sister successfully tried it....I know, am lame! Also with my lady issues, tampons have hardly been my closest friend, so I really should be looking at alternatives anyway.
Well, I'll bite the bullet and give it a go, you're right it seems insignificant bearing in mind everything else!
Will check out the mooncup thread....0 -

Don't worry about what it looks like... you will look at it and think 'that goes WHERE?!' :rotfl: :rotfl: but it works!0

Possibly because of the photography, but also because, contrary to popular belief, most people aren't as small as they think! Diaphragms (which clearly need to fit accurately) can apparently be MUCH bigger! It needs to be large enough to be held in place by your internal muscles, so you fold it to insert, and then it pushes against the walls to stay up... if it was too small it would fall out!
There are two sizes - under 30 and never given birth, and over 30 or given birth (caesarian obviously isn't relevant as it won't impact sizing).0
