Im with Kim-ley and sparklewing on the mooncup, I have heard abou them before, in fact a friend of mine uses it, but when I saw the picture on the website I took one look and thought NO WAY and cancelled the page. I had another look when someone posted the website on here recently and Im afraid I felt the same. I do agree with them, it would be great not to have to keep buying pads every month as well, but they do look scary and I dont want to spend all that money on something I cant bring myself to use.
I'll see how kim-ley and Joyful get on with it before I decide, I know, Im a coward.
On a brighter note, I made my first vegan chocolate cake today, I got the recipe from the Viva site, and its really nice.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

As the title say's I'm finding it hard to bring myself to eat lentils, which in the long run could become a problem as lets face it, lentils can be a massive part of a vegan diet!
It all stems from a veggie stew my mum made when I was about six (so 23 years ago!!) she cooked the stew then threw in a load of split red lentils at the last minute but didn't cook them properly. I can still remember the feel of them and gagging because they stuck in my throat like little tiny tablets:eek: ! I'm quite a "gaggy" person and really struggle taking tablets so any food that reminds me of them is off the menu!! Just thinking about it is making me feel ill_pale_ !
I need a lentil recipe that is super tasty, really well cooked to avoid that hard tablet-y feel and not too brown looking as that puts me off as well!! It can't be a soup as liquid with lentils floating in it is totally offputting for me!
I know I'm strange but hoping I can get over my lentil phobia:o !!

annaangeluk - Soaking the brown and green lentils for a few hours before you cook them could help you. The red ones should be fine with as little as 15 mins cooking and not hard with no need to soak. I find using lentils in slow cooker meals really soften thems. After 8hrs on low I dare anyone to say the lentils are hard :rotfl: . The green and brown ones usually keep their shape after that long but the red ones become a kind of mush, so good as a thickener or for people you want to not know they are there.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0

Anna, when their cooked properly the red one almost disappear into the meal, their not gritty at all, if anything mushy. This is a favourite with my non vegan kids who are usually very fussy, I got it off a packet

Thanks for the recipe sue. What sort of texture is this when it's baked please? I'm wondering if it's like a tasty 'mush' or if it's more like a casserole type thing.
I love red lentils & tend to chuck them into lots of stew & casserole type meals to thicken & increase the protein & nutrition. My husband (who is an omnivore) makes a wicked dahl with them which is probably my favourite way to eat them.0 -
