    Thanks again Emma.

Just out of curiosity, why is this superb offer not available online or on the TalkTalk site?
    Best regards

We have different offers through different sales channels. Advertising the offer on the TalkTalk website could confuse customers signing up through that channel so it is only advertised on the Carphone Warehouse website.

Not best pleased with my first in-store encounter with the CPW.

All seemed to have gone well until I got home and noticed the following entry the contract form:

"You've indicated that: you're happy to be contacted by TalkTalk Telecom Ltd
or selected third parties (inc. any company in our group) about their
products (you accept that contact may be vie phone email SMS MMS); ..."

Since I indicated no such thing, in fact quite the opposite, I felt unease at this duplicity and have subsequently cancelled the contract.

    Hi Mima,

All that needed to be done was for the contact option on the sales system to be altered - a 2 second job I would have happlily have done for you. If you where asked about marketing calls and declined them a sales compliance investigation can be completed. Let me know if you want this to take place. It could have been a simple data imput error by the sales advisor.

    Cheers

Hi Emma and thanks for a prompt response.

I did go back and asked for this to be changed but the same rep told me that .. it is illegal to alter the contract but that I can do so by phone. Only when I requested a cancellation that she offered to this for me but by then ......
As it is also illegal for her to cancel the contract, I was again told that I'll have to do this myself.
In the circumstances, it never crossed my mind that you could deal with it so much better via this forum.

By the way it was the rep who, in the first place, asked if I wanted to register with TPS and not to have any marketing material sent to me to which I added that I trust it will also include all of the CWP's material.
But I suppose it could still have been an input error.

And no, I do not want to start any investigation.

I would, however, still like to try TT phone and broadband if I can be assured from the very start that no details of mine will ever be passed on to or used for any comercial, promotional or other related purposes. This to include Phorm, the embracement of which by BT is the major reason why I want to dump BT.
    Best regards

    Hi Mima,

Its got to be your call but if you want to give it a go and you get any odd messages about marketing on the contract I can make sure that you are removed from any marketing lists. As far as I am aware TalkTalk do not share any of the data we take from you during sign up with any external organisations. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Cheers

The nice man I spoke to at the Carphone Warehouse gave me an address to write to saying I want to opt out of marketing. I have no problem doing so, but from what you say, Emma, would you be able to mark it on the system to save me the bother?

    Thanks Emma

I'll probably try to do it via a phone this time.
