Moving to TalkTalk

At present my line is with BT and Broadband with Namesco. I intend to move both to TalkTalk and would appreciate some advise on how best to go about it, so as not to suffer to much downtime and/or financial loss.
TalkTalk (site) suggests I leave everything to them but having searched through the various fora, I'm not sure this is the best approach.
Thanks in advance.

When I was young I knew all the answers.
Now I'm only just beginning to understand the questions.

Hi Mike,
Firstly you can check www.samknows.com (availability section) to see if LLU is available in your area as this is the cheapest way that TalkTalk can provide a service to you. If LLU is available there is an offer on currently where you would pay only £10.50 for the first 12 months and then £16.99 for the remainder of the contract. Full details of the offer can be found here. If you have any quesitons about what is included in th talk plan etc then I am happy to help.
LLU transfers usually result in no more than 4 hours down time. You would be contracted for an 18 month period. TalkTalk have to inform Openreach that you wish to transfer your service and Openreach in turn advise your current providers. It is not recomended that you take any action to cancel the accounts with other providers at this time as it can result in your service being termanated meaning you would have to re-activate the line, this would be chargeable. Also it is not possible for Openreach to process two orders on your line at any one time so a cancelation order with another provider could delay the acticvation of your service with TalkTalk.
Once you are live with TalkTalk it is advisable to check with your old provider that they have received the instruction to cancel your account from Openreach. They can then check their accounts reflect the fact you have left thier service at this time. Any questions please fire away.
Cheers

You agreed not to advertise when you joined. Read the forum rules e.g. here

What advertising is there? The op asked specifically about moving to talktalk (not a decision I'd make, but each to their own). If the OP had said "I'm thinking of changing provider, what do you think of TalkTalk" then the reps responce could have been considered spam, but it wasn't.
The TT rep answered the question, and provided links to the requested service and an industry recognised site (samknows).
She also suggested informing the current ISP of the switch once completed, something rarely recomended by anybody judging by the number of complaints here from people paying 2 ISPs.
I'm pretty sure clicking the "report" button doesn't get a mod/admin reading the post and judging on its merits, it just gets a post deleted, in this case, if you have reported the TT reps post as spam, I feel you are wrongly following your own agenda, not that of the site, to the detriment of other users.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
I think we are very lucky that EmmaL takes the time and trouble to come on these boards to help people.
There`s no way that`s spam or advertising.0 -
^I wouldn't go that far...she does it in work's time...as part of her job, but so far she's been helpful to those wanting or with the service.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Talk Talk is probably one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in my life. They provide 0% customer service and probably the worst broadband experience whilst you are still in contract with them. They throttle your broadband and restart it ever 15 mins at peak times. If I were you I would stay well clear.0
