Proud to say still on a zero grocery spend for Feb...:D

  • £10.02 at the co-op on the things I forgot in my Asda shop! Milk and ham, then also a sunday times (which'll take us the week to read!) and readymeal that was reduce from £2.49 to 98p. I also squeezed in a Mother & Baby magazine as it was reduced from £2.60 to £1.49.

Didn't buy cereal bars this week as I've decided to make fruit flapjacks and then individually wrap them. Have made up a beef madras and beef & mushroom pie mix which'll do for 2 meals this week.

Updated signature to reflect today's top-up and stock-up. Sugar price has increased another 10% here to 92p per bag cheapest and St0rk is up to 80p per 500g tub! Fortunately, I can still get flour for 48p so I'm sticking with the luxury of freshly baked pies, cakes and biscuits. :D C0-0p had plenty of smoked ham houghs in stock, so I have another 4 safely tucked away in the freezer.

Hope everyone is surviving the cold/snow and keeping warm by the cooker :)

Managed to escape from the Kitchen, have made some Flapjacks and Peanut Butter Cookies, the Flapjacks are just a bog standard recipe that I always use but the Cookies I've never made before and found on the Recipe Index on page 1, thanks Money Saving Diva, we have had 2 each already and they are gorgeous, shall definitely be making those again.;)

Have also made Christmas Pudding Strudelfor Pudding tonight, had half a Xmas pudding left in the Freezer (amazing what you find when you do an Inventory!!).:rotfl:

Last nights Lamb Kebabs went down well with everyone including OH who is usually fussy and usually sticks to meat and 2 veg and doesn't like herbs and spices. I served them with a huge bowl of Couscous, OH had a Jacket Potato with his, can't get him into Rice, Couscous or Pasta.

Dinner tonight is Roast Pork, HM Stuffing, HM Yorkies, Roast Parsnips, Carrots, Green Beans, Roast Spuds, Bread Sauce & Gravy followed by the Strudel.:D

    Have a good day everyone.;)

  • Popped out to do my shopping now I can at last get out! Returned yesterdays small lurpack butter to Somerfields and got refund Found the big ones on a different shelf where they werent supposed to be(thats why I go around a shop 3 times). Got a few good deals such as
    reduced turkey steaks for £1.75
    4 packs 500g lurpack spreadable £1.35 each
    bacon on offer £1.25
    chips on offer x 2 60p each
    sprouts frozen 89p
    whiskas pouches x 2 £5
    oatso simple-quaker 2 for £2.19-bogof
    liquid wash-2 for £4
    rice pudding x 2 20p each
2 pork chops on offer £1.65
    grapes-£2.40 per kilo
    bananas £1.10 per kilo

    I then went to Waitrose
    2 sixpacks of muller yogs-bogof £2.49
2 applewood smoked ham bogof £2.59
    2 flora buttery bogof £1.68
    hulahoops 50% free £1.17
    2 300g cottage cheese 79p each then 50p off for 2
    vegimince £1.39
2 big packs of crackers 45p each
2 nestle pic a pac with vouchers on £1.21 each
2 nimble loaves reduced 39p each
2 warburtons 800g farmhouse 74p each instead of £1.24 as they were shelved wrongly-in the place of the small loaves.

So I think I did well for some good quality food today. Waitrose crackers are as cheap as lidl or asda. The applewood ham is really nice-not the plasticy stuff but I only ever buy it on bogof. It actually worked out cheaper than the deli one which they had reduced for quick sale.
LL milk and powdered milk have got very expensive everywhere lately so I havent bought any to replace what Ive used up.
The cereal works out free because it has £1.50 worth of vouchers in the packaging. I also used up the weetabix vouchers Id cut from the day old newspapers that hubby brought back from work.(we dont normally buy papers) Im goint to cook the turkey fillets wrapped in smoked bacon for tea with couscous (from A foods) and some veg. Just taken a loaf out of the oven so I can freeze most of the bread I bought today-when I tidy up the freezer enough to get it in.

Nyk- Ive just seen sugar in my local Somerfield is 1.02 !!!

Just been to MrM as needed milk and eggs to try out the moussaka recipe on the first page of here for todays dinner and spent another tenner...getting a bit worried as only the 8th and over half my budget is gone:confused: however I did get good stuff for my tenner as I needed loo roll and got 8 rolls for £3 and needed to get dh some pizzas and they are 3 for £3 from there (the ones he likes) which is a great takeaway saver...eggs were quite good too as they were ones with omega3 and they are on offer at the mo for 1.14 (usually 1.64).....

Need to meal plan like I have never meal planned I think!! I have also had to buy the stuff for ds's party yesterday though so not all bad and visitors have now gone and no more for this month phew!! We have had snow now for the past hour - hope it doesn't settle...

What are eggs with omega 3? How is that added to the egg or am I being daft?

I think they do this with a special feed for the chickens - it makes the eggs have a higher than average omega 3 level.

    Hiya!

I'm in again this month :) My target is £350 for Feb please. This is for me, X and our 2yr old DS; and includes all food, household stuff, toiletries and nappies. My month runs from 28th Jan - 24th Feb; which is 4 weeks.

This is the same budget as last month but this month I'm switching to only buying free range or organic pork, poultry and eggs. I'm going to alternate my weekly shops with MrT and MrS instead of just using MrT ;) I'm also going to keep track of the cost and qty of meat we eat this month to see if next month we're able to afford a monthly meat box:j instead of buying all our meat from supermarkets :p

Good Luck with your challenges everyone! :)

    Nikki x

Hi Srry to sound completely idiotic but what is a monthly meat box? lol sorry again but i am intrigued!!!!
