At least I'm promised the tenner back - I suspect that the £20 for the dog will not result in a very fat dog though ..... hey ho. I'll have to manage with £70 for this month, thank goodness for a well filled freezer!
Is the dog food supposed to be part of your gcocery budget or is it not included? If it is included it will be a regular occurence but if not-it needs to be replaced from another budget(assuming you have another £20 somewhere)Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Have just added up all my spends so far this month. It all went to pot a bit this week due to weather and online shopping not arriving, had to rely on local village shop for essential (god they're expensive!) Anyway still have just over £100 of budget left and freezer and cupboards are well stocked, so fingers crossed I may make it. I will be so chuffed if I can stick to this budget as I think I was spending about £500 per month before doing this challenge, just by being disorganised/extravagent. - Fingers crossed.Me, DH, DS(6), DS(2)

Wah! It all went a bit wrong this weekend... got our grocery shopping on Friday night and ended up popping to the local Coop on both Saturday and Sunday for other little bits!
Didn't spend loads (and haven't added it up yet!) but am annoyed that I didn't plan properly. Have told OH that he will be eating value beans on value toast this week!
Will hopefully be able to sort out my total later on today.0 -
Ok I am writing this whilst fuming so apologies if i rant a bit!!OH hasn't been at work pretty much for the last 10 days which is hitting my already tighter than a wotsit budget, however on Thursday his mate rang up sying he would be "popping down to stay at the weekend"
Well I don't have any food in portions of 3 so I decided I would make a lasagne and carrot cake - went out and bought the stuff on friday spending about £25 in the process(and still forgot to buy bread!!)!! Saturday he phoned saying he wasn't coming after all!!
I then realised I didn't have enough cereal for me, or enough bread for the weekend - oh said he would pop to mr T's on his way to let the cat out at our friends house - I was worried about our now no-existant budget but I gave him a list and he said he would stick to it - the list totalled about £25 - he came home with a reciept for £55!!!! his defence was they were all bargains - maybe for him but most of them we didn't need or I could have got cheaper elsewhere!!! the only thing that calmed me down was that he had bought my favourite cocolate bar as it was on offer!!!
OH is officially in the dog-house! and somehow I still have stuff to get for this week's food - roll on 25th when march will start!FebGC

Morning all!
At least I think it is - am still suffering with a hangover incurred on Saturday night - I am definitely too old for this boozing lark! Never again - well at least til next time!
Anyway, prior to being led astray I went to Mr Ts on Saturday and did the shop - spent pennies under £50.
OH has decided that he's on a fish fad so had to get salmon and trout:eek: - they added another £6 to the bill. Better be nice - I can't stand fish so its only for him too!
I'm mealplanning for the week - making pots of stuff this week - leek and potato soup, veggie 5 bean chillli, chick pea curry etc so hopefully the leftovers will do lunches too.
Only have about £60 to last the month but there's quite a bit in and I'm going to try really hard to stick to the budget.0 -
agree with yummymummy, am furious at my husband. he went to Morrisions for breakfast cereal and razor blades and spent £60 this is nearly our entire food budget. However because im off sick he has been allowed to go to the shops! grrrh. moaning aside he is doing a great job as I cant do very much cos of a bad back.
god only knows what we have to eat this week but looking at his shopping probably supernoodles with tomatoes!Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000 -
morning all it's a NSD here for me, bought salt yesterday so thats another 99p onto the budget for last week the only problem i have now is i washed my grinder out and the kittens have stolen the top of it and i have no idea where it has now gone to lol. going to do sausage and chips for tea i think for the kids and some fish for me (not keen on sausage). still need to sort out some sort of meal plan with what is in the freezer i'm sure once i get the motivation to do that my shopping bills will come down x0

Just been reading the posts, and I know I shouldnt laugh but your accounts of your OH's shopping trips are hilarious. The definitely do NOT have the same shopping genes as us! They cannot seem to focus on the job in hand! My ex OH used to be able to spend @ £100 and still not buy anything to concoct a meal out of! Im sure you will all meet your GC no prob, this is my first shot at this Im £20 under but have to get to the 19th when my Feb ends!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Just managed to get to the farm for my sack of potatoes ,more snow forcast here.
No money to add on though as OH paid "I had no change lol" should have been £6.50.
So another NSD.
Going to look in freezer shortly Im sure I have some pies in there that were bogof in MRMs.
Will use the sprouts and carrots that didnt get used yesterday.Feeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. Also 3 cats and 3 fishies
