It reminded me of this Celtic Blessing;
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Nice too,isn't it?0 -

Afternoon all!
I've been missing for a few days due to having to go "down South" for work. Came back on Thursday evening, and by Friday morning had contracted yet another cold, this is getting dull! 3rd cold since 2 days prior to Christmas and not a day w/o. Ah well, I have to admit to feeling a lot better today, so fingers crossed for a clean bill of health for the week!
Yesterday, didn't do an awful lot, went to Waitrose and stocked up on my groceries for the week, realised that I hadn't been since before Christmas, except for a top-up by DH early in January. Filled up on the things I can't seem to get anywhere else.
DH 'phoned me whilst I was out to tell me that my "paper bricks" had worked, he was amazed "you and your weird ideas" .... so today I have soaked some more paper to form into some more balls until I get around to buying a paper log maker.
Came home and made pineapple-upside-down pudding ... yum, will have the left overs tonight!
Currently I am the main person to cook in this house, as a result, I get bored of it now and again, and want to have something I haven't cooked as a late night "snack", normally DH goes to the kebab house and gets us both chicken kebabs .. last night - he refused!! ..... told me that we were spending too much on them, and that if I really wanted one, he would go and make us one!!!
Does he realise what he's started?? He made the most LUSH kebabs in the world, which were not comparable to the kebab shop (which I have to say makes exceptionally good kebabs!) .... cubed chicken & mushroom marinaded in a tikka masala / cream mix, grilled, served up with a wild rocket salad, onion in a wholemeal pitta bread ..... yum!!!
His main "criticism" was that if he was going to HAVE to make them more regularly then we would need to purchase larger pitta breads! Then wombled on about marinated mint lamb kebabs, and what could he do with pork ..... OMG!
Today has been pretty productive, went to sleep at 01:00 after watching another several episodes of ER, DD woke at 4, and after DH had settled her, we all slept until 08:30 .... OMG we all feel human for once!!!!
DD and I have been doing some gardening, consisting of me pottering for half an hour and DD filling her wheelbarrow with soil, perfick!!
DH has been doing DIY .... the ceiling has now collapsed on him, oops! Our dining room is turning into a saga!
Today, I have made mash by the bucket load, ok, so I exaggerate! However, we do have about 10 portions. Cottage pie made, and bolognaise sauce is in the slow cooker, veg stock has been made and jarred, roast chicken is currently in the oven .... guess I need to make chicken stock this evening?!?
B - Special K with blueberries
L - Bacon and cheese sarnies
D - Roast Chicken, roast parsnips, roast tatties, carrots, broccoli with pineapple-upside-down pudding with custard.
Tonight = Ironing to do and a large voddie and orange to pour!
DH away in France from tomorrow morning until Thursday night, hence the requirement to get ahead of myself for the week.
Oh, and I've lost my Panasonic SD251 manual ... how? I have no idea, it was in the kitchen and used last week ... this week, missing!GC - March 2024 -0 -

sashacat wrote:wasn't it Chinese New Year last weekend. We certainly went t othe celebrations in London last Sunday!
You're absolutely right, it was. However, because all our Dragons and Lion dancers were up in London, we didn't get to do our local celebrations - so they were doing a big Parade today.
DS was hugely impressed by the "Dotting the Eyes" ceremony which woke up the big gold Dragon .. from craning to see even closer, he took a step back with an awed "whoa!" as it came to life, twisting, spinning, opening and closing its mouth and batting its long eyelashes. Great stuff, even if it was an hour late in starting! My poor feet were almost part of the pavement, by then.
I put the SC on at lunchtime to poach some chicken breasts in a garlic, lime and ginger sauce - which we've just had with some egg fried rice which DH put together - so dinner was a bit of a joint effort.
Now the boys are chilling in the sitting room and I'm trying to avoid the dishes. I'd better get on and feed the dogs, or they'll be on the phone to the RSPCA.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -

Hi all
Not much to report. Got back from my parents' house earlier this afternoon - OH has sorted out his suit for the wedding, which is a relief. Quite painless, other than a lady in the shop trying to force a tie that he didn't want on us!
Got back this afternoon to find a letter from the Inland Revenue saying here is a cheque for overpaid tax! Wooohoooo! That'll pay off my overdraft or go towards our honeymoon. Probably the latter!
We had a lovely roast lamb with my parents, so don't need a big supper, other than a piece of toast.
MATH - sorry to hear about your troubles. We're all here for you.
