This morning we have nearly £500 more in the bank than on a normal payday. (Lots of overtime and a backdated payrise) I just have to persuade DH to let me direct it towards the debts instead of him going on a spending spreeOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Good Luck VickyA's dad. Hope it all goes well.

Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Prudent-DD is suppose to be having free school dinners but they were totally awful and never the choices there that should have been. She is in year 6, so were last to get lunch and some days were only being offered a bread roll and a pudding:eek: at least I know shes eating well now.
I am hoping that when she attends secondary (this sept) that there will be more choice in the cafeteria and she will be able to get free dinners. Out of interest, does anyone know how much they contribute daily towards the free school meals and what the prices are in the cafs at secondary?
Thanks

the way our school does it, the kids on free school meals are given a token to the value of the set meal. Last time i had one i think it was about £1.60/1.70, but this was probably 6 months ago. Kids can then choose the set meal, or other items from the cafe up to the value of the token, or select more and pay the difference.
I've seen some interesting meals i tell you. bowl of custard for lunch anyone?
Our school displays all prices on a noticeboard outside the cafe, so that kids can work out what they want before they go in. I am always a bit disappointed though that it is cheaper to buy crap than to buy a yoghurt or piece of fruit, and we are supposed to be a healthy school.

Morning all
No snow here today - dark grey skies and really cold and windy though.. The snow is forecast for this area on Friday - typically that's the day that my parents are supposed to be arriving to take DD's off for the weekend....I'd love the snow for them to play in but I think I'd love a weekend off a little bit more.
Just done some online banking - much easier that having to get the bus into town and sorting it - I've been keeping a list of everything going in and out since the end of November and being very religious about overpaying as much as possible - combine that with re-jigging DH's loan earlier this month and we've managed to clear £6200 off our debts since November 28th..... :j I'm so pleased, we were only saying last night how much we've enjoyed being more OS and can't wait to get on with out next project, the veggi patch. I've already got my seeds and I've managed to stick £50 away to use for a new spade/fork and to hire a rotivator for a day to get the ground ready, DH has booked 4 days off work to do it as well.....I will be eating my own veg this year! It's amazing how much our lives have turned round since coming here.
No little ones today, WM on, DW empty, Hoovering done, bathroom clean, beds aired and made. Going to have a surf for a bit before attacking the ironing pile and watching a film.
Have a good one all.
Brekkie - toast

Hi everyone. Hugs to all who need them - and it includes me. Woke up at 4.45am and just made it to the bathroom in time for some projectile vomiting. I even managed to hit the vertical blinds. So at 5.10 I was cleaning the whole bathroom and dismantling the vertical blinds to soak them in a sink full of bleach! They're in the WM now. I'm going to reassemble them damp and hope the weights will pull any creases out.
It is snowy here this morning but all the roads are open - much to the kids disgust. Made the first batch of pancakes for them for brekkie, then will make more at teatime and then - guess what - off to Beavers to make more with them and get them to toss them. We're usually pretty successful so fingers crossed for me.
Am getting large Tesco delivery this morning - most of the basics for the month so I think I will have to do major freezer reorganisation later. Off now to tidy and clean the kitchen before the Tesco man sees it!!!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Morning all! :hello:
Day off for me as I worked 31 hours over the weekend
Had a lovely afternoon at work yesterday, took a service user to the snoozelen and we had a relaxing time on the heated water bed, with calming music and beautiful light effects and a foot massage(its a hard life! )
just started snowing here in Worcestershire!
B - muesli
L - beans on toast
D - cod with a crunchy topping in cheese sauce, new pots and veg
Nice to see you posting again Queenie not the same without you, also I like the idea about turning the ironing pile into a coffee table!

Well, just back from taking DS1 to nursery and DS2 having a nap so that means I can relax on here for a little while and catch up with some posts whilst having my breakfast
Nowt done on the housework front as yet but did do a quick session on the treadmill before taking wee one to school and DH did do dishes before leaving for work. So, WM will go on and soup to be made for tea tonight. House generally still tidy but do need to tackle DS1's bedroom and sort out all those toys of his! Plus our wardrobe could do with a bit of a tidy out too.
Tonight I really need to shop for new car insurance for DH and I. That ought to be fun
Have a good one everyone :wave:0
