  • Morning everyone,

Manicdays - I use either prune juice or HM rhubarb and fig jam for DS1 when he has the same problem. I make the jam each spring and he takes a spoonful or two at night. Prune juice is more effective but he doesn't like the taste.

Off to Lidl and the library soon with my new trolley (as mentioned in the other thread). I don't care if it's tartan - at least it will save my back. Lunch will be jacket spud with tuna & sweetcorn leftover from making DH's lunch. Dinner could well be the spaghetti with meatballs that was planned for yesterday - but then I got some reduced sausages which we had with spaghetti in a HM satay sauce. DH was a bit dubious but the kids loved it. (It was a proper recipe - not just some wild flight of fancy)

DH was given a box of Milk Tray last night by someone at work - which was a nice treat.DW is on and I am going to hang the washing out and hope for the best. Half term next week for 3 days - we only get short half terms as the kids get 9 weeks in the summer - the whole of July and August.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all

Not a good day for me, I am feeling very sad and not good about myself this morning. I lost my temper with DD last night as yet again she would not eat her tea and just sat there whinging. I sent her up to bed without her tea and as she went past me she started shouting that I was not the boss and she would do what she liked (she's 4). I aimed a swipe at her backside and caught her off guard and she fell when I smacked her. I rarely smack any of my kids and I feel like a complete !!!!! this morning.

  • Morning all :hello:

It's FRIDAY!!! Hurrah! no more work for two days! The main danger is that I'll be so tired that I'll spend most of tomorrow asleep when I really need to do lots of urgent chores. Hopefully a little nightcap (hot milk with whisky or a small White Russian cocktail) and bed well before midnight might mean I wake up naturally by 9am with enough energy to get through the day.

Last night's stir fry worked out very nicely - chicken, celery, spring onion, red chilli, red pepper, mushroom and courgette, cooked in sesame oil and finished off with noodles and soy sauce. Made two HUGE portions (it would have made three if I'd been doing lunchboxes, but decided to feed housemate as well, which had a beneficial effect in that he then did all the washing up :D That leaves me without a meal for today's lunch, but as I still have a completed loyalty card from my favourite lunch takeaway, I can treat myself for no outlay :D

There's only so much that will fit in the wok so I'm still left with a yellow pepper and four spring onions which need using up - I've got a recipe somewhere for a pasta sauce made of yellow pepper, spring onion, peanut butter and diced pork, so for tonight's dinner I've taken some spare ribs out of the freezer and am intending to adapt the recipe to suit. Should work well with rice or couscous. Or noodles. I did also have most of a punnet of mushrooms left over but I love munching raw mushrooms and they didn't last the evening :o

Tomorrow I might do a big pasta session - my local Co-op has been great recently in letting me pick up bags of tortellini for 50p each (the bags are £1.99 or 2 for £3, but every time I've been in this week there have been two bags in the reduced fridge for 99p each, with the special offer discount still going through!) I've got four bags which, judging by the batch I did last weekend, should do six lunchboxes. Need to pop into Asda for some pesto - their stir-thru stuff is SO much nicer than any of the other supermarket brands because of its high olive-oil content, and it's one of the cheapest on the market! So that'll take a grand total of about 15 minutes to make six lunches, with only one big pan to wash :D

scuzz - I sympathise - after the week I've had at work I was considering throwing a strategic sickie on Monday (for genuine reasons i.e. exhaustion!) but now I've been told that my monthly deadline has been extended until Monday, which I know gives me more time and means I won't be here late tonight, but means I really have no choice but to be here on Monday

nicki - doesn't your toothpaste live by your bathroom basin

CQ - that's FABULOUS  and might I guess that a food market might be the sort of "outside" venue where you feel most comfortable ;)

pavlovs_dog, holstar and any other lurking students - hope you meet your deadlines without too much trouble!

Now, must go, lots of work to be done! Note to self: I MUST NOT SPEND ALL DAY ON MSE!!!!!

    Rzl xx

Aww moggins - don't feel bad - we've all done it. Mine are currently in bed as they can't say a nice word to each other or me......I'm simply not in the mood for it today.

    Hugs all round.

  • Morning.... blimey, is that the time? :D

Still in my PJ's and dressing gown, with nothing done except for brekkie eaten and DS1 off to school with his packed lunch. Reason - DS2 woke at 3amwith a hacking couch and didn't go down until just before 6, which is when DS1 decided to get in bed with me and fidget and sniff in my ear until the alarm went off at 7. (Mr TM of course was oblivious to most of this) I hate persistent sniffing so was ready to throttle DS by this time :( When will they learn to blow their noses properly?

Anyway, sat back in bed with my brekkie, with DS2 who woke at 8.30 with his weetabix on a tray next to me, feeling very grown up. Then decided to have a little lie down while I watched a bit of news and dozed till 10.30 :o DS2 played quite happily with his toys and watched Finding Nemo and is as right as rain now (almost, cos his cold will likely surface in some form in the middle of the night again :()

So, today will be spent trying to catch up on what I was going to do this morning. My bedding needs to visit the WM shortly and I'll get some mince out to make a spag bol for tea. Did all the ironing last night, so that's one mountain out of the way :D DS2 is at pre-school this afternoon, so I'll have a couple of hours to myself later. Our schools don't break up for half-term till tonight, so I'll spend next week pulling my hair out I expect :D

Right, off for a shower and see if I can't wake myself up properly. MATH and Lucie, I'll pm later :) Hugs to everyone and I hope sick littlies etc are on the mend. FF - keep us up-dated.

Have a good day and those in work, don't let them thar bosses grid ya down! And students...... I remember well the last day (erm....night) essays. Why didn't we learn to do them earlier?

CurryQueen: I do that all the time when I'm shopping! Make up my mind at the last minute to go . . . and then can't remember what I went for!!

It's a bit wet here today so I've got all the washing festooned around the house like a Chinese Laundry. I'll be sooo glad when it can all go out every day again.

    All housework done.

Wonderful aroma of Rosemary & Onion bread coming from the breadmaker (Queenie's recipe - wherever is she these days???)

Off to make some muffins in a minute (if I ever get myself away from the computer!)

Morning everyone :hello: Mines a late one today, still don't feel fully awake courtesy of munch waking up at 1am and 2am and 4am :o She was really hot when she first woke up so I gave her a cuddle, calpol and a drink and she settled for a bit, woke up crying again so rubbed her back until she fell back to sleep, she sounds a bit nasally (is that a real word??) so I think she may be coming down with a cold.

Starlorna22 I hope you are getting over the shock of the car accident, don't let it knock your confidence.

Moggins big hugs (I love you signature btw :) ) sometimes kids can wear you down and then find the button that makes you snap don't feel too bad about it these things happen we are all human. Munch and I have had rough patches although things have realy improved, I always find its worst when I'm tired. She is 2 and has now gone into the I'm going to cry at anything stage....I now understand why my mum always used that famous warning "I'll give you something to cry about in a minute" the joys of kids hey. :o

Well the sun has kind of come out so I will empty WM shortly and put on a load of bedding. DW has been emptied and almost filled but I only have 1 tablet to last me until Monday  Kitchen looked like a bomb site last night but is now clean and tidy, 2 loads of ironing to do once I've finished on here. Had heart shaped eggy bread from breakfast this morning and instead of throwing away left over bread I turned it into breadcrumbs and have frozen it for next time I make treacle tart very OS...do I get a gold star lol.

Managed to get a msing eye test job for next month so will use free eye test to get glasses direct and save a small fortune. :j

Plan for today apart from ironing and washing is to plan meals for next week and do online shop, take munch to the abortetium on her trike and feed the ducks, mess about a bit and be daft and get some fresh air and exercise, its just started raining again but I don't think it will last long. Also need to try and do a bit of tidying as most of the house is a tip.

B - :heart2: shaped eggy bread topped with golden syrup for me and nutella for munch.
L - Sandwich (will use up left over tuna & cucumber from yesterday).
D - Was going to have left over casserole but realised I have eggs that need using up today so will have panetta fritata (sp?) with salad instead yum.

    Have a good day everyone

  • morning all

i'm having a bad morning so far. I didn't wash up last night, and i'm now regretting it. The dishes are still sat there, so i'm going to have to deal with it. DH was at work and came in at 5:30, waking me up. He got up at 9 and is now at work again. Thank god it's friday. So i had to get up early and deal with the kittens, which he normally does, although he did appreciate the cuppa i made him as he doesn't normally bother.

I've also had an email from my Head of department. They have arranged for a supply teacher to plan my work/take allmy classes between the 27th of Feb and Easter, so that should be easier for me, if they are a good teacher. The downside is, he has tidied up the office, throwing lots away, and rearranged it. The thought of this makes me cringe as i had everything as i wanted it after spendind a day organising it in the summer hols, and he has put everything of mine in desk drawers, so i basically know i will need to spend another day sorting it out again. I could cry. At least i won't be going in ready to teach on monday with all my stuff not there. I don't think he's going to be very popular.

I spent most of yesterday making my rug. I'm about 2/3 of the way through now. I then have some cross stich sets to do for my sister. I'm going to try and chill out. Perhaps organise some of the school work i need to do for next week before the new person starts.

curry queen nice to see you back on the thread, and i'm happy you enjoyed your trip out. It should make your next trip out easier. Have you thought of having a general list of things you need in your handbag, and then take it with you if you go out or internet it if you aren't upto it?

moggins a tap on the bum never hurt anyone - it might make your DD stopand think if it's something you don't do regular. I bet everyone on this thread remembers the odd tap from their parents, and we aren't worse off for it.

manic - liquorice is a good way to make a person more ' regular' and is also likely to be kiddy friendly.

I'm going to go and try to do something before iam on here all day again.

    Michelle
