Hello everyone
Been out today (DSs piano lesson then visiting my grandma) so rather late on here. Took an age to read this far!
FF: hope the baby is ok
PP: glad you had a nice tome away
Wow! the sun's just come out.
Enjoy the rest of the day.0 -
Hi again,
I seem to have solved my leather bag repair problem (as per thread I started the other day) - found a leatherworker 5 mins walk from my office who will do the repair by hand and strengthen the other three strap fastenings so they don't break too. £12 all in, paid half as a deposit and will get the bag back good as new tomorrow. Don't know if that's expensive or not but I was hoping he'd say about £10 so am not too bothered (and we are talking Central London). Such a nice man! Thank goodness for local tradesmen. Bag when purchased was quite pricey though heavily reduced, and is very good quality, and the only bag I have that's the right size to carry sheet music
All this talk of Old Stylers being almost-neighbours has reminded me - I must meet up soon with all those who are near me. Penny-Pincher is about 20 mins walk from me, I think, and ivyleaf and Katgoddess are not far away by bus. If I had a car I think kiwichick would be within reach too, but unfortunately there's no pedestrian equivalent to the Dartford Crossing! P-P - I could come over this Saturday afternoon if you wanted! PM me if it's convenient! Congrats to your friend with the new baby.

FUNKYFAIRY :grouphug: big hugs to you and your family hope your nephew is better very soon.
Not much done today. Set up the kids train track this morning (covers the lounge floor - so huge,) Was a bargain 1/2 price xmas pressie. Have now put it all away as dd2yo thought it was a good idea to put thomas on her head and got her hair caught up.
not too happy at the momment as once again the shop has fallen through, they have decided to sell it for the sum of £169950 so totally out of my range :rotfl: I was actually going to let it for £3500 a yaer from them :wall: is what i really feel like doing at the momment. I have been waiting for this shop for over 18 months and every time I think it's withen my reach it gets sold, so really not a happy bunny- think I will have to find a diiferent shop.
nothing done today-really not in the mood-just want to sleep.

Funky fairy, thinking about your little nephew and his mum+dad.
Been for a blow round the block with the thriftlings.Sometimes I wish they'd just watch telly all day.
Lunch was going to be ham sandwiches but at last minute I decided to turn the leftover cottage pie into soup.Very nice-added a tin of toms+a bit more water and some sweetcorn(would have added peas if I had any).
Been to the butcher's for sausages and bacon(the kind of bacon that gets crisp in the pan and doesn't steam in that strange white gunk)
So supper tonight will be spicy sausage and bean hotpot and jacket pots.0 -
Back from our ramble with rosy cheeks and a desperate need for hot chocolates and then found no hot chocolate in the cupboard and an empty cocoa tin:eek: Managed to stop the MATHLETTS revolting by offering a cup of tea with a cadbury's choccy roll to dunk in. LOL WE went to one of the highest points in the emids and could see for about 50 miles all round. The world looks completely flat it was great.
TM - nice job recruiting WTG. Why do you go to Aldi and Lidl? I have an Aldi here in the emids and a Lidl at the coast and they seem to be almost the same. Am I missing something(Hope I havn't upset my favourite Moonbooted one by being rude and insulting cos you didn't return my pm):o
Frey What kinda shop are you planning on opening?Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

It would be nice to know how many of us are close to each other. Am going to change my location to local borough rather than county, might give people more of an idea where I am. Having said that, it will be changing in a few eeks anyway when we move house. Would be lovely to make friends with an OSer in the new town - anyone live near Linslade/Leighton Buzzard???WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
I now have visions of a whole street full of women (& men) beavering away with slow cookers & vinegar & having no idea their OS online friends actually live next door! I think there are a few people fairly local to me; TM is not far away (where's that Asian C&C please?) and a couple of others are in & around Blackburn.
Been to Costco today to stock up, I much prefer to go during the week than at weekends when it's mad busy. Have already been to the gym, had my tea (last night's leftover chilli in flour tortillas with about to go off creme fraiche) & am now settling down to an evening of TV of my choice. OH is out at his Xmas do (don't ask), but I've got to go pick him up later. Must remember to re-make our bed which I stripped this morning................0 -
Hello everyone - I am new to OS and wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading your threads over the last few days. I am a harrassed divorced mum of two (one 15 and one 8) girls and I was made redundant on 31 DEcember after 20 years in the same Civil Service job. Being at home is something that I have never really done so I thought I would start doing some OS type stuff to try and save money and also because it all sounds really enjoyable. I made my first trip to Aldi today and got a trolleyfull of stuff for £26 and then I went to Tesco and bought stuff to make bread, plus lots of other fruit and veggies to start cooking everything from scratch. First thing I made was a ham shank soup with the ham cooking water and a packet of dried soup mix which I have had in the cupboard for ages!! Gave it to my 8 year old tonight as after school snack and it went down okayish, but 15 year old wouldn't look at it!! I think I have my work cut out getting them to eat OS. I also dug out my old yoghurt maker and blender and will be putting them to good use!! Anyway, Funkyfairy - I hope your nephew is okay - my 15 year old had to go into special care and is now 6ft tall and eats me out of house and home!! Nice meet you all!!Jane

MATH - I will reply to your pm when I get half a chance
Anyway, Aldi and Lidl are good for their owns things IMO - Lidl for the cheap fruit and veg and Aldi for meat and meat-based items. Also, Aldi does those baby fromage frais that DS2 lives on.
And don't forget, they each have their own 'special offers' on Mondays and Thursdays. I actually went specifically to Aldi's for the duvet sets (£9.99 when they are usually about £18+ anywhere else) Mine are only a couple of miles apart, in both of the towns I visit, so it makes sense to shop at both sometimes.
Lucie - I'll check on the name of the asian shop and pm you later. It's on Whalley Range, but the car park is a bit of a faff to get into unless you know what you're doing
Tea went down nicely, followed by some lovely doughnuts (Aldi, 99p for 4, but there were 5 in the packet) Naughty but very nice  Mr TM is out at a meeting tonight so I will park the ironing board in front of the tv and watch another of my freebie rental films (Wimbledon)
Oh, and he came home tonight and announced that he has a man coming to "talk to us" in a couple of weeks about financial matters - pensions etc. Mr TM said "he's not trying to sell us anything because he's salaried" - by one particular company. Hmmmm - call me cynical but.......... :rotfl: Anyway, Mr TM has told this man that I AM a bit cynical about these things (ie these advisors). All I can see is a waste of an eveningNever mind, at least I'll be able to get Mr TM's finances straight cos he will have them all out for this chap to look at. Must go and investigate "with profit ISA's"
Cheerio then folks, catch ya later
