About 18 months ago I bought a load of photographic darkroom equipment for £1 (£1.18 inc auction fee!!). There must have been at least 30 items there which i sold for at least £3-4 per item.
As well as that there was a record player stylus in the lot. Brand new and wrapped in the box. There were none of the same for sale on eBay nor in the completed listings so i just stuck it down as a 99p starting bid. 7 days later it sold for £180.
Not been as lucky since but still had a few items that have surprised me.soolin wrote:photographic equipment? Ooh, there's a thought i have several tea chests full in my loft....

Hello all.
I had a look round my local charity shop today, didn't find much but I did find one of them BIG polly pocket things, a really really big polly pocket.
It was about £4, and was pink. Does anyone know how much these are worth or what the proper name is for one as I am unable to find one on eBay.0 -
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about the thread and I see some of you are doing well!!
I must apologise for my lack of input on this thread, problems with family members being poorly, so I haven't had chance yet to descend on the boot sale. I will though and I am loving reading all your stories.
XFebruary Grocery Challenge £250.00
Spend so far £230!! (Ohhh my days HELP) still got almost 2 weeks left!!0 -
Great challenge
Car boots are how I got started on eBay - best find was a 3 CD early music box set, especially put together for a corporate gift and including some performances by the Academy of Ancient Music not released anywhere else. I bought the set for £2, listed the three discs separately and they sold for about £12 each.
You can also play the game on ebay itself - best buy so far is three comics from ebay.com, $1.50 each plus $10 shipping, sold for £36 on ebay.co.uk.

Hello
I am thinking of taking part in the challenge, just wanted a bit of advice. When you list your item do you start it at a very low price and hope someone bids for it, or do you start at the price you want. Im not sure what to do, my nerves might not take selling things for 99p lol.
Thanks

I usually start at a low price (commonly 99p), but the start price is never less than I'd be willing to sell for. If it's something I've bought to sell, my starting price will often be just a little more than the price I paid for the item plus eBay fees, then if I only get one bid I'll be disappointed, but not out of pocket.
I was very pleased with a recent purchase - Vogue Knitting Book Autumn 1947, bought for 20p, sold for £24.
If you do start at a low price, don't worry if there are no bids until near the end of the auction - that's fairly normal.kaznelson wrote:Best CarBoot find/ Ebay Sale I ever had was an original painting

Hi
I usually start it at the lowest price i am prepared to take for it, wether thats 99p or 4.99 depends on what you will let the item go forR.I.P Sam, still in my heart0 -
