I take it you have access to your On-line credit reports.
If that's the case e-mail Experian and ask them for clarification to this matter.0 -

Hi Sutton, how are you? I have asked Experian and all they can tell me is they keep up to 36 months repayments history for active accounts. For some reason they could not help with my question. The question is can the repayment history be kept on experian credit file for as long as 9 years?
For example:
I had 3 late payments markers on CC in the first 3 months and closed CC account (settled) when account is 3 years old (a full 36 months repayment history)
ON credit file it would show i had 3 late payments - are they allowed to keep data showing late payments for a further 6 years after account settled or CRA's not allowed by law to keep any DATA that are more than 6 years old?
The example I just explained shows that in theory late payments can be on credit file for as long as 9 years?! In the case of Equifax, it is 10 years because they keep data repayment history up to 48 months.
Can anyone help?0 -

I'm fine thanks Noah. How are you?
Are you e-mailing Credit expert or Experian, direct?
I find that you get more joy from Experian, direct.
In answer to your question I'm unsure really and i don't want to give you information which may be incorret. If you don't get any joy from Experian then post a new theard in the Credit Card forum they may know alittle more.0 -
I recently found out about the Flex account thanks to this site, im going on a 2 week holiday around Europe in a month so decided to apply for one. Ive not had a Nationwide account for 13 years, bascially last time i had one i was a child.
I did it online and applied for the Visa Debit Card - i got the letter back from them a few days ago saying they had offered me a: Cash Card.
I phoned them today and questioned it with them and they said i probably didnt get the Visa Debit because of bad Credit history, as far as im aware ive never had any bad credit history.
The letter they sent is poor, i requested one card and got another and there was no information about it written anywhere as to why they did this!
Do you think its worth going to my local branch tomorrow? Will i need to make an appointment for this?
Thanks0 -

It depends how busy they are. As tomorrow is a Saturday they probably will be very busy, especially just before a bank holiday. Go mid week when they are quiet and they would probably see you straightaway without an appointment.0 -
woops, forgot its a Bank Holiday on Monday, im actually working it as well.
Will call them now and make an appointment0 -

I don't understand why i got a cash card - I have good credit history with no missed payments on active accounts and several late markers on settled accounts which are over 4 years old. NO CCJs, defaults etc.
I hear in order to have a visa debt card with nationwide, credit history had to be spotless? i.e series of green o's and no adverse data at all??
Nationwide are in a world of their own.
The only reason myself and other people I know got flexaccounts with debit cards and cheque books is because we had savings accounts with them for years - in my case it was since I was a teenager.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I opened a Flex Account (without any hassle) merely to be able to use it abroad without fee. However, I've just received a letter from Nationwide informing me that from 1st June there will be a fee for foreign withdrawals. You need to check their website for the countries where there is no fee - seems to be all Europe, but if you're going to the States, forget it! Bit of a bummer for me as that's what I got the card for, but at least other places I visit regularly such as Ireland and Spain are not affected.Never knowingly overpaid.0
