young teenage son to become a dad - advice pls

i dont disagree that some teenage parents in the situation of the OPs son will make a go of it - i have a friend who fell pregnant at 17 and 10 years later she and her bf are still together, good jobs, nice house etc. However I dont think "congratulations" was the appropriate thing to say to the OP. I would imagine MOST teenagers will split and MOST probably wont make the most of their lives after an unexpected baby at this early stage in a relationship at this young age.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

A friend of mine who has 3 daughters I think put it so very well when we wonce talked about it: "If any of my girls come home and tell me they're pregnant they'll get a bollocking, not because they're pregnant, but because they have put themselves at risk of so many other things that could kill them!"
I have been watching this thread thinking that I didn't want to be negative so I wouldn't post, but I as it's progressed I notice more and more people probably think the same way as me.
I'm not contesting some unplanned pregnancies don't work out really well and the parents stay together and all is happy.
Unfortunately a lot don't. I think I would be supportive if it were my son, but I would NOT be impressed with him. Pill or no pill then he's put himself and her at risk from any number of sexually transmitted infections! And frankly I think both of them should get checked anyway - her specially as she now has responcibility for another life inside her.
Also - a bit of negativity now - it's still early in the pregnancy and things could still go wrong - I'm sorry to say that 1 in 4 pregnancies miscarry early in pregnancy
And my ultimate concern right now? Getting pregnant THAT quickly if they have only been together a very short while??? I would seriously be asking for some paternity tests if I was your son... and I would question the girls motives too... Call me suspicious - but there is every possibility it's not his and if it is then did she do this on purpose? I'm sorry to say it but SOME girls do...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more!
