Has anyone tried the Revitalising Hand Saviour from the No7 Body Beautiful range? Is it any good (and does it smell like the body wash and bath soak - I love the smell of those)? As it's getting colder, my hands are quite dull and dry so I'm looking for something to perk them up a bit.

Alternatively, does anyone have any other suggestions for a good, reasonably inexpensive hand cream/treatment?

    Hi there,

I use hand saviour its great, smells ok but don't know if it is like other in range. Scrappy feeling on hands then rinse off and very soft and silky. I then use No7 p&p hand cream and put on wee white gloves. Seems to work for me..... I work outside a lot of the time and my hands are always wet.

True story lol, but before I found these threads, and used to go shopping with dd (and refuse all vouchers etc) I thought the ACM was something that took your photo - but without the curtains! :o :rotfl: :rotfl:

You should see the looks a bloke gets when approaching the BIG PINK ACM MACHINE.:rotfl:

I also generously gave both DGD and DD a Soap & Glory Hand Food, that each cost me 20p, using the voucher. Very good value!! :T

But I've got a Pain In The Harris from sitting on the fence regarding Shampoogate. And I can't see why we can't discuss it on here, instead of going to The Arms, because it is not only Boots related, but similar things have happened, and will happen in the future.

I think I subscribe to the maxim "All Things In Moderation". I've got umpteen No 7 nail accessories that cost me, at the most, 50p each, from those Glory Glory Days of Pinkies and Blinkies. I feel pleased to be able to pop these in as an extra Birthday present, or, to give as cheer-up gifts. Should I have left them on the shelves and thrown my Blinkies and Pinkies away?

I'm answering "no", because I didn't get hundreds, but I did get about 20 over the course of the vouchers. Perhaps the lady who got so many bottles of shampoo will give them to refuges? She hasn't said that this is her intention, but if she had, would she have been flamed?

Nobody knows if I'm going to give my nail things or Olay GWPs as cheer-up presents, or have a car boot sale. But when peeps say this, or say they're giving their stuff to charity, or a women's refuge, I think "Oh, well that's OK then". Personally, I think she was innocently being a bit too honest, for this board, and not bragging.

I got flamed when I first did the R & M glitch in October, and posted that I'd taken the mirror back, and asked to swap it for something else, and the SA gave me a refund. I was accused of boasting, and went and crawled in the corner, and didn't post for ages - until I got numerous PMs from Seasoned Posters telling me this happened all the time, with peeps who'd done the same thing getting on their high horses!

I haven't seen any of the putting sets, Naked Men, or whatever they're called, or tuppeny ha'penny things that originally cost £35, but I've had loads of good deals, like today, and am more than satisfied with what I do get.

So for me, the moral of this story is, read your post through before you press the send button. ;)

And a zillion apologies that this is so long.

    xx

hi sandrascarlett:D well done for getting the S&G stuff for 20p:T I haven't used any of the £2 vouchers yet. I am a bit worried (chicken:o ) about using them as they don't look like genuine vouchers, IYSWIM.

Has anyone else used them yet?

I agree with what you said about shampoogate. I think it should be discussed here. I don't have time to read every thread on MSE. This is the only thread I read daily (often 5 times a day:rotfl: ) and I would have missed it all if the OP had posted on another thread instead. When this kind of thing happens I like to sit back and read what everyone else has to say. I can't be bothered to get into a moral debate, so I am not going to give my opinion on the matter.

I hope everyone had a good day bootsing. I haven't been today and getting withdrawal symptoms already:eek: I need to spend my winkies.

dee753 and jemclassjess, did you get any bargains from our local today?
  • Hi showergelshirley and welcome to world of the Boots Grabbit thread. Thanks for the heads up about reduced memory cards and sticks, I'll be sure to look out for them as they always come in handy. I hope you are going to stick around and let us know what else you find on your travels. There are a few new faces on here recently, welcome to you all too.

Pleased to report that the ACM was playing ball again today after giving me zero offers yesterday, lots of points vouchers on premium haircare to use with the wrinklies. Also some £5 off vouchers for P&P which I will never use.... *cough*
Nothing much of note in Durham today though I did see a solitary Lee Stafford Box Of Tricks set still on the shelf in Marketplace this afternoon, I felt like shouting to the whole store what a bargain price it was so someone would come and snap it up. I used the hairdryer from mine this morning and I'm very pleased with it. DD is envious so I treated her to an UG styling spray with a wrinklie and put the ACM points on her card.

passion8, I used to think the ACM was some sort of ordering point. I too never accepted vouchers and steadfastly refused to apply for an Advantage card. I only filled the form in for one so I could get the H&B mag free for DD one day. Then it took me months to save up 100 points which I blew on a bottle of bubble bath, I only ever used to go into Boots for paracetamol :rotfl:

I've tried quite a few hand treatments as I get dry hands, and one that seems very good for a decent price is the Boots Expert Concentrated Hand & Nail Cream for 2.63. It's not quite as fun as the equally good Endless Glove by Soap and Glory which costs around 4.40 (because it's fun to buy s&g and the stuff smells of daisies), but the expert brand does a good job and is fragrance free, which means it won't clash with your perfume or other scented girly products. If you have one of those Expert sample tins we got free last year with two Expert purchases, this came with it (or you can just buy a tube).

Edit: Just did a looksie, and Endless Glove is 125ml for 4.40, whilst the Expert stuff is 2.63 for 50ml. So I guess the s&g is a better deal, so maybe I'd recommend that (unless you wanted fragrance free, lol).
  • Only been here 5 minutes and already contemplating a name change! How about shampooshirley?

:rotfl: It used to take me about 6 month to save 100 points:eek: I never went near the ACM machine. I had no idea you could print off points coupons, let alone get products free with skincare vouchers - I used to bin them all. I'm making up for lost time now:D

I like the Hand Saviour, I first tried it when there was a sample sized tube in a GWP. It smells gorgeous and leaves my hands soft. It does tend to seperate in the tube so be sure to give it a good shake and a bit of a squish before you open the tube. An alternative is olive oil (or baby oil) and sugar which works on the same principle.
I also like the Olay hand treatment and the Elle McPherson hand cream, they are the two best handcreams I've used. The Olay one seems to have some sort of exfoliator in it, very fine, and it removes dead skin cells to leave your hands looking fresh and feeling super soft if you keep on rubbing it in after it's nearly absorbed.

I found some olay hand treatment reduced to just over £3 the other day in high street kensington. It might be worth keeping a look out for it in other stores. I wish we could still use the skincare vouchers on this.

Can anyone remember the days when we could get sanctuary bathing products with the £5 skincare vouchers? those were the days:D

    Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah of course i'll stick around, and despite my slightly gloating first post, I'm actually a very helpful person and will do what I can to aid others where I can. I'd just had a couple of days that were extraordinary and needed to tell the world (well you do sometimes don't you?) I knew it would be slightly contentious, but difference of opinion is what makes the world interesting.

Not read back but for reference in case people didn't know, all the radox stuff still goes through as bogof even on clearance so a whopper of a bargain! Another thing too, some HE's on clearance stands have £1 labels on em but if you smile nicely at the SA's they will scan the original bar codes on the bottle giving you the 73p price.

I'm still wondering though why i never get anything from the ACM? I am registered to the clubs but never had anything other than the standard 250 points on 25 quid spend. :(

Thanks again for the warm welcome and a big hi to everyone here from me. :T
