Utility Warehouse. Why did I switch?

(let's see which makes sense on this moneysaving website)
The simple answer is:- Pay less overall for my utilities by using one company who provide a fairly easy to understand paper bill for gas, electricity, home phone & broadband and mobile phone for my wife whilst using a pre payment card in shops where I normally get groceries and pharmaceuticals, as well as:- car & cycle spares, DIY stuff, clothes shops and hotels. All this in the knowledge that they also provide good service. This last from personal experience over the course of seven years.
I've said before, and I'll say it again, "It works for me and I am happy to admit that it will not suit everybody."
And, yes, I am a distributor for the company but that does not make me a bad person. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

The first sentence of these warns you of the risks associated with the card:The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

You seemed not to fully realise the way the card works when you posted this:The card is admistered by Mastercard. I suspect that the money paid in goes to them and then UW get their cut from it.
If you weren't fully aware of the way it works and the risks, how are your customers expected to find out when you try and flog them the cards?0 -
I am a distributor and I do not pretend to be a satisfied customer, I definitely am one. If I were not satisfied with what they provide, I would not offer it to others. Perhaps you would care to name those who are pretending. I'm fairly sure it's not Quentin or Cardew.
I cant name them as their posts always get deleted and their accounts too, there is usually one pop up every week or so, maybe a board mod could get you a list? Might take a while to download thoughMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

NigeWick, by posting that request you seem to be saying your colleagues at uw have not been coming to this site anonymously and posing as satisfied customers. Come off it - you've seen stacks, and you know their posts get deleted, so "cleverly" asking for their names is just not on!
One in this thread from this week:
Ricgardc (see post #7 in this thread) - (Richard Clark from uw - had his first post deleted for the usual uw rep rule breaking)0 -
Nigewick, dont take it personally, my comment wasnt aimed at you, just the legions of reps that come on here posing as happy customers without declaring they are distributors.
Unlike some other members on here I cant be bothered snooping around peoples posting history to see what you have posted in the past (or where you shop), so I cant say if you started off as one that posed as a happy customer, I would like to think you didnt as you do add some input from UW and declare your intrest, whether people agree with it or not its still good that you post here.

At least I can admit my mistakes. :beer:The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Like most others, my biggest gripe against UW is the tactics of many of their reps and the misleading adverts.
Obviously if there is money to be made from selling UW's sevices it is not surprising that people resort to such tactics. However, that they can sell such a product to their friends and family needs no further comment!!!
Whilst I am aware he stated he is not a UW rep, a typical series of posts are like those of Pirate66 who joined MSE and sings the praises of UW - claiming that when he left UW after moving house he paid double.
Gradually his claims moderated until he finally gave his annual consumption and area. Since I posted the quote below, not a single comment from him(and he has visited MSE) or any UW rep on the accuracy or not of my post.
As you live in Lincs I used the postcode LN2 1PN
I checked 2 comparison websites using 11,000kWh gas and 3,750kWh electricity paying by Direct Debit.
Energyhelpline(Martin states is best) gave:
Cheapest NPower at £750 with the cheapest UW tariff at £924. So UW is 23.2% more expensive than NPower. (UW was 35th in the ranking by price)
USWITCH
Cheapest NPower at £749.72p with the cheapest UW tariff £944.95. So UW is 26% more expensive than NPower (UW was 42nd in the ranking by price)
Check them for yourself if you feel the above is inaccurate.
So come on, is that incorrect or is it not – UW reps are welcome to comment on facts!
Instead we will have the usual emotive bleating by UW reps that Quentin or Cardew ‘hate’ UW.0
