Hi all - hope you all well?
Doing ok some days and terribly others! Yesterday was a bit crap - slipped back into my old ways of replacing meals with crisps and having cheese on toast for tea at 9pm!!! Then 1/2 pack of Jaffa cakes and 2 packs of DD chews! ARGGHHHHHH!
Today I am out for lunch with friends I have not seen for a long time so will probably be bad again. Only good thing is that my friend persauded me to change my weigh in day from Monday to Wednesday so as least I have a few days to make up for being so bad. I just love eating crap food - it tastes so darn good!!!

Hello Everyone, hope you're all doing ok.

Tara - I have trouble with sugar cravings, i'm not normally a sweet person but on a diet I just crave puddings! Have you tried sugar free jelly, I have this with some fruit and fat free yogurt and sometimes a sprinkle of cocopops or another cereal. Or there's highlights or options hot chocolate. Also low calorie chocolate mouse or the weight watchers yogurt deserts. The lemon cheesecake is mmmmmm

It's my weigh in day today and i've lost a huge 4lbs!!!

But don't congratulate me, I really don't deserve it. I've done absolutely no exercise this week, i've not even walked to work once. I have been really good with the snacking but i've had oven chips with cheese and gravy every single day for lunch. I have no idea why but i've just got the biggest craving for chips every day! I think it's because I'm starting celebrity slim on monday and i'll be a carb free zone.

Although i've eaten chips everyday I still had small portions, and they are light choices oven chips which are quite low calorie. But I was expecting to stay the same not to lose 4lbs so i'm really happy. That takes me to 5.5lbs for the month and means I need to lose 1.5lbs this week to hit my target :j

  • Morning all weekenders, especially the newbies - is it just me or are we getting popular guys??!!:o

Well done Gemsy  4lb without trying is not to be laughed at! Wish i could not try to lose 3 stone - i'd soon be laughing!! good luck with the celebtrity slim - really hope it works for you hun.

Well, i am feeling like one of Martin's credit card tarts - but with diets! I am officially a diet tart! Either that or I jum on any diet badwagon going! started off this challenge with the intention just eating better and more healthily, i.e. cutting out junk, fried and processed food. Threw in a bit of Paul McKenna and then jumped to Atkins for a few days... found some slimfast hidden away the other day and was tinking about giving that a go next week!! Why am i such a tart??

Still havent really lost an awful lot of weight - Went on wii on Thursday evening and BMI has gone down by about 0.2% so i am stil obese according to that. Am v unlikely to lose 5lb in the next 7 days now am I? My sis had lost weight on Atkins, i've been doing it all week and look more or less the same and certainly haven;t lost weight - although i do think i look thinner.
Went out last night to a comedy show and then we went for food afterwards - gave in to a pizza - BUT only had 2 slices and 1 of garlic bread - would normally have had at least 4 slices. But it means Atkins went out of the window last night... and i'be woken up and had about 7 choc chip cookies with tea for my brekkie this morning...obviously the cookie moster doing his rounds to all os us!

So feeling slightly demotivated (although i did fit into my new size 14 "skinny" jeans last night:T ) but had a right muffin top hanging over my waisband, covered by a long dress, and my bridget jones pants of course!

Gosh im waffling.....again! Just wanted to say thanks again guys for this thread. Becuase of you and this challenge, am taking kids to their club and then going swimming. Then gonna come home and sort out the house before kids go back to school so that should burn some calories !

plzhelpmesave - atkins or other low carb diets do work really well but you have to absolutely stick to them. If you have more than about 50grams of carbs in a day your body doesn't go into keytosis and you start the whole process again.

When I did atkins this time last year it was the best diet I ever did in terms of hunger cravings. Once you get past those first 2-5 days (differs for each person) you just dont get hungry. You actually have to remind yourself to eat!

But if you have even a slice of bread, you are right back to square one and have to go through those horrible headache days again

Leothecat - I had exactly the same day yesterday, total write off!! Back on track today, come on, we can do it!

gemsy, well done!!!!!!!!!!!! 4lb! You rock. I would like to give Atkins a go and could handle going without bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc (just about!) but would make up for it with LOTS of fruit and veg and that might put me over the 50g limit?? Also, I would still want to eat root veg (carrots, sweet potatoes etc), can you do that? What can you actually eat on Atkins if you don't want to eat meat/fish at every meal?

plzhelpmesave - I know what you mean about the diet tarting! :rotfl: Well done on fitting into your skinny jeans, that's more important than the number on the scales. :T Good luck with the swimming and housework!

I weighed in at 61.7kg this morning, ho hum. Although my body is starting to feel a little firmer and stronger, which is motivating me to keep at it. I've already had my 100cal sweet treat today (!) so no more snacking. I'm going to walk for at least 2 hours and try to keep to small portions.

    Good luck everyone!

In the induction phase you need to keep your carbs under 20g, you can choose how long you want this phase to last. I did it for a week until my cravings stopped but some people need to do it for 2 weeks.

After this you can start to introduce carbs in 5g stages each week.

I found some brilliant low carb recipes this morning where they use cauliflower as a base for things such as pizza and lasagne. The pictures look amazing.

The blog in the first link marks which recipes are ok to use during the induction phase. Just make sure if you do try it that you drink plenty of water or you'll get a really bad headache. And don't bother with alcohol either - it's really not worth the feeling the next day!

  • Thanks for the support again guys. Think maybe i have been a little bit half hearted - and snuck in the occassional carbs without really noticing,e.g. yoghurts or fruit! may give it another go next week as the kids will be back at school so can go back into normal routine!

Is anyone on track or anywhere near their 7lb goals????

I have lost another pound and a half - not sure how close this takes me to target for the month though as I put some weight on mid month courtesy of medication!

I think you are right to start afresh after the holiday - not so easy when your routines are thrown.

Just check and I still have 5 pounds to go - arrrrgh!

    Hello,
Have been away for a few days but wanted to let you all know that at last weeks RC class I lost 1.5 lbs (to add to the measly 0.5 lbs in week 1!)
I think it was definitely exercise that made the difference but my poor body is in shock at the sudden increase in activity!
Still have a long way to go but enjoy being inspired by you all.

Well, just in and yes it was a bad day food wise. Porridge with skimmed milk for brekkie - good, cheese burger with bacon and fries for lunch - bad!!!
Not decided on tea yet cos I am still stuffed from lunch which is good. Am contemplating going for either a walk or run (although would be without running buddies so not so keen on the run).
