thanks for all the positive replies guys - so glad you're here to keep me going!
Well done SARAH!! I do believe you may meet the challenge head on girl!
Dragon and Tara - you are both right - any loss is good and miles better than a gain so that's something to keep me going.
Dragged the kids out to asda with me and have bought Coleen's Disco burn DVD so am gonna get that on in a bit and gt boogie-ing on down - anyone wanna join us???
I'm sort of giving Atkins a go this week to see what happens - scrambles eggs for brekkie, had 2 pieces chicken for lunch and having meat kebabs with salad for dinner. Lets see how i get on with Mr A this week - as i love my bread and pasta....0 -
Never too late :hello: and welcome to out wee thread!! Hopefully you'll find it as motivating as we do!
(PS are you quite small in height? That seems an awful lot of weight to lose given you're only 10st 10 to begin with?)
Huge well done to Bunny, Rotherham lass, littleemmie, Sarah, plzhelpmesave, marmalade and sarah.roberts on all of your weight losses!! Even just 1lb here and there all adds up - and littleemmie how fab did you feel when you saw it'd been 4lbs you'd shifted! Are you following any specific diet plan?
Plzhelpmesave How was the DVD? Did the kids enjoying having a go? Well done on the weight loss, even though you're disappointed it's not more than a lb, it must be very encouraging that your family are commenting! And how you feel and look is far more important than what the scales say!!
Marmalade I'm kind of on track, I've lost 4lbs so far this month, but only 11 days left to shift the other 3lbs!! Hhhhmmmm.......
Gemsy good luck with celebrity slim, is that a meal replacement thing? Kind of like slim fast?
Tara how was your leg on the steep walk? I always find that walking fast, hurts my legs a lot more than running! With running I seem to get past the burning feeling quite quickly, where I get pains up my shins if I try walking fast on the treadmill!Oh, and I don't really get hunger pangs! I'm following the Slimming World plan, so just keep stocked up on "free" food that I can eat and that sees me through! It's weird actually, because I eat loads more following the diet than I would normally, but I'm still losing weight!
Dragon Hope you're ok, and it's nothing too serious you're laid up with!!
As for me, the week got off to an ok start in that I followed the diet to a T yesterday! Although I didn't go to the gym last night, but I've decided to give up on the notion that I'm ever likely to go on a Monday night, because I'm always far too tired!
Today, it's mums birthday, so we went out for lunch. I was ok during the main meal, we went to a carvery because there's loads of things there I can eat on the diet (and mum's following it too!) - but the big slice of chocolate cake I had afterwards kind of put the good intentions out the window!! Whoops!! I won't even make it to the gym tonight, as I take the guides on a Tuesday night, and there just isn't time!!
I'll just have to be extra good for the rest of the week!!
Good luck to anyone else who still had WI's to go!!
xx0 -
plzhelpmesave, let us know how the low carbing goes!! I am trying to eat fewer carbs too but with little success!!!
crapwithmoney, yes, I almost found the hill walking harder than running, although my legs are ok afterwards. What 'free' foods are there on SW? A list or link would be really helpful if it's not too much trouble. :A Well done on your restraint at the carvery and never mind the cake!!

Hey Tara,
There are loads to be honest. I'll try and explain it as best I can though! It works on the idea that you have “red” and “green” days, and follows food optimising.
On each day, all fruit and veg are free (although things like fruit juice aren't). In addition, on a red day you can eat as much meat or fish as you like (provided it is cooked in a healthy way, ie fat trimmed off it, grilled or baked or whatever). Then on a green day you can have as much carbs as you like (potato, rice, pasta etc..)
On both days you have what's called healthy extra's, and you have A and B choices. A choices are all calcium based, so give you a required allowance of milk/cheese, and B choices are everything else you need to keep you healthy, mostly covers bread and cereal etc, but on a red day it also covers an allowance of carbs, and green days it covers an allowance of meat if that makes sense? And you need to have 2 from each choice every day.
As well as that, you have an allowance of “syns” every day, between 5-15, most people have 10 though unless you have quite a bit to lose. This covers any goodies you fancy, like either chocolate, or maybe alcohol, or even just tomato ketchup or mayonnaise with your tea!
There are also extra easy, or mix-2-match days, but you probably need to get a grip on the red and green days before you gave that a go!
You can alternate the red/green days whatever way you fancy, you can do every day green if you like, but they don't recommend all red days – although in saying that, the more red days you have, the more quickly you tend to lose weight!
It sounds quite complicated, but it's not when you get your head round it. It's basically a healthy eating plan, which encourages you to eat more freshly prepared food, and to cook it more healthily.
There's basically nothing you can't eat, you just sometimes have to be a bit more clever with how you cook your food, and always try to use the healthier option when you're cooking it! For example, if you were having Spag Bol, you would make the sauce yourself rather than using a jar, if it was a red day you would have loads of meat (as much as you liked), but a restricted amount of spaghetti, if you were having a green day, you would make it the same way, but have as much spaghetti as you wanted but a restricted amount of meat.
Phew – yet another mammoth post from me! Hope that all made sense, if not just ask away – or have a look at the Slimming World thread on here, and you'll get an idea of people's menu plans for the day – or look at their website:

Feel like a complete porker today:rolleyes:
Breakfast - one dry and stale best of both hot cross bun
Lunch: lamb shank on mashed spud with wine jus (no other veg:mad: ), glass of pink champagne followed by a slice of chocolate truffle torte with creme fraiche and 4 raspberries (couldnt eat it all as too rich).
Dinner: 1 glass of lemonade n lime with wedge of lime and slice of lemon (both eaten), sausage and mash with fried onion rings (couldnt eat all of dinner so OH scoffed the leftovers).
I have done a fair bit of walking too and a lot of driving as my car needed a jump start this morning and then I had to go out for a long drive to get the battery working again:rolleyes:
Well done to those that are losing, sorry Dragon re the glandular fever (you will have to stop kissing Dr Dragon:rolleyes: ).0 -
Well done everyone on losing. Every little helps!
I love hearing everyone's tips - gives you good ideas and keeps you motivated - THANKS!!
Tara - the walking uphill gets easier honest. I have got quite long legs so I have a longer stride which I think makes it a bit easier TBH. My friend who comes to the gym with me is 5'4" and she looks like she is going to fly off at any minute when she sets the speed high.:D0 -
crapwithmoney, thank you for that mega post!!! :T It is a bit complex but seems a little easier than WW (I couldn't be arsed adding up points every day).
Rotherham Lass, yes, I'm about your friend's height so the steep incline was giving me hell! But I'm glad I got on ok and definitely felt a slight ache in my legs afterwards, so it is good exercise!
Dragon - poor you!! Hope you get better real soon. Take good care of yourself. :A
EmmyLou and marmalade - good thinking on the jeans! I have several pairs which are a size or two smaller than I am, I used to fit into them and they are a good incentive to get slim again! :j
I've only just worked out how to put your names in bold, am stupidly pleased with myself!
Today has been pretty good. As well as the gym session, I've walked for over 2 hours and eaten well, no rubbish at all. I walked past the shops earlier dying for some chocolate but resisted by telling myself that I could go back out for it after my post-dinner walk if I really wanted. I also brushed my teeth straight after dinner to stop myself wanting to eat again... and it worked. If only every day could be like today! :rotfl:
