There should be VERY few people that need to adjust anything really, only those with significant eyesight problems.
The majority simply don't like change and prefer the look of the old site, this is nothing to do with the arguments that most of them have put forwards though which I feel is merely an excuse. The pastels give them headaches, that is the funniest thing i've heard in years, I bet their houses are bright red and bright green to stop them having such a problem.
Don't you DARE suggest that people are making it up  I know for a fact that this new look is causing me a headache. It has nothing to do with preferring the look of the old site, it just that the old look didn't cause people to get headaches! How the hell would you know how colours and contrast affect people, do you have any kind of medical qualification that makes you an expert in such matters?
We're not all the same you know, some people are more sensitive to things like this, me being one of them.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

My husband is pleased though, as I can only do 10mins of MSE at a time now, rather than hours. So I suppose my MSE forum addiction problem is solved!!!
Which bit is it that is difficult to read? Genuine question because the text is black writing on a white background which is the standard colour scheme for everything isnt it? Newspapers, books, internet sites etc, in fact the old look was black writing on a white background too.
Also which section is too bright? Is it the identical white to before? Or the pastel shades in the other areas?0 -
If I have the laptop screen at a vertical then it looks awful - washed out and hard to see the difference - for example quotes look like they are in a very very pale pink box.
Weirdly if I tilt the screen back 45 degrees then it looks fine - the yellow is nice and strong (it's barely perceptible normally) and even the green looks stronger.
Wow, I've found the same thing. New site actually doesn't look too bad when I look at the screen sideways on. For some reason looking directly at it leaves it all washed out.poppy100 -

I'm sitting in my living room, which has cream and red walls and a deep green carpet.
But no, pastels don't give me a headache! I'd just prefer this site to have a little more "definition":heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

That is pretty ignorant laurz121, you clearly do not know what you are talking about. My concentration problems are due to my mental health, and side effects from medication. My eyesight is pretty much perfect.
I don't really care if someone has a bright red house. I don't stare at a house for any length of time.Gone ... or have I?0 -
My first thought when I logged on was "why does the site look wrong?". Then I realised it had changed. My eyesight is not amazing and I find the lack of solid borders makes it harder to read.Happy chappy0

Martin - if you want the site to be accessible, get the RNIB to okay it. They're the experts in what makes a website easy to use for people with some kind of visual impairment.
IMHO it is easy to use for somebody with a visually impairmentThe brightness is a bit harsh but that is easily changed
