Well, it's given me a headache. So I'll be off here I think for the weekend.

I may have to join you :( If they insist on keeping this nightmarish colour scheme until Monday then I am going to have to avoid it. I have a pounding headache, and looking at this isn't helping! None of the other websites that I am looking at on the side are aggravating it, just this place! I've only stuck around this long to see what others think.

  • That's good..we now have 2 solutions.

    1. Laptops, tilt the screen until the colours change
    2. Desktops, change settings to those for the visually impaired.

If only there was a 3rd way...

Oh God, thank you! Just tilted my screen back and its 100% better! I can read again!

I've just been messing about with my laptop and when it's fully flat it does look quite good :j But can't keep it like that all the time :rotfl:

Maybe it's our fault then and not MSE's? :rotfl:

I haven't seen any pink though  I'd be happy if it was pink :D

If I have the laptop screen at a vertical then it looks awful - washed out and hard to see the difference - for example quotes look like they are in a very very pale pink box.

Weirdly if I tilt the screen back 45 degrees then it looks fine - the yellow is nice and strong (it's barely perceptible normally) and even the green looks stronger.

ahh that explains it, I can't have the screen at 45 degrees all the time though :( Looks like I'm just going to have to put up with it :(

    Hi folks,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Having reviewed the office monitors I think part of the problem is different settings, on some screens its fine, on others it does glare and become difficult to read. We are going to roll it back sometime today (fri) or tomorrow and do some tweaks to it.

Generally I think the concept a positive one - its much less scary on the forum front page and looks better (on a standard set monitor) there are some problems at post level though.

The difficulty is the changes we've made are overarching template changes rather than at any sub level - so things you've pointed out - such as the user cp box - is simply an automated change rather than a design change.

At this stage we'd focused on our three core areas.

Certainly the front page section with a few minor colour changes works well, but we need to find a way of making it work at post level.

Martin, as you're online atm, please put back the clear dark lines for separations and borders, no longer present when one clicks .e.g. UserCP.

It takes four clicks in the admin control panel. It could be done by now.

I'm a little confused by what people are saying. They say that it is too bright yet they also say that there are too many pastels, isnt that a contradiction? Considering that the green was brighter and more vivid before then the current one then it obviously isn't brighter, it is merely lighter (and therefore cleaner).

The cream at the left is apparently too hard to tell apart from the white in the main post area, I find this very odd because i'm sure the old look of them both actually being white was closer to them both being the same (ie identical). Cream in the posters area and white in main post area or white in both, which would cause most confusion? Well I know which I think would.

Then people are saying that the posts aren't seperated well enough and need something between them because theyre confusing. Isn't there a big green bar at the top of each post, the cream on left stops and there is a gap? Surely that tells everyone that it is a different post

Also since when did pastel shades give people headaches? I think that these people maybe have just got an headache naturally (some of them) and the others are imagining it (placebo effect). Do these people avoid google like the plague? Big white screen with bright blue writing on it.
