Wow these guys are good. I booked a double room because that was all that was available. Called them now to enquire whether there was a twin room available instead. Yes there was. He changed the room and sent me an lovely pdf confirmation by email within 2 minutes, which even details the breakfast etc. Very pleased.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Still waiting for normal Hoxton site to return so I can contact them direct. In the meantime, a little research...
For those of you who still think this is a good hotel...
Sinclair Beecham, who founded Pret a Manger, also owns this hotel. His slogan for it? "A no bullsh!t hotel". Charming. That wouldn't make you wonder about this man's standards?
He claims that Pret 'is obsessed with selling good natural food'. Who owns 33% of Pret, at a cost of £25m? McDonalds. That bastion of good, natural, ethically sourced food. McD's also say that they have an option to acquire the whole Pret chain.

Still think it's all it's cracked up to be?

I sense you have some greater issues than simply a missed hotel room.

Works out perfectly because I'm going clubbing just around the corner that night to see my favourite DJs!

    Cashback Cashier
Not sure if anyone else had this problem but I logged on at 11.45am - the clock was counting down. It got to midday, I refreshed the page.... and it started counting down from 24 hours again! By the time I had reloaded the page, the site had crashed..........

Never mind, wasn't expecting to get one anyway. Maybe next time
    Thanks to MSE for.....
Moneyback from greasy palm (£40.22), quidco (£207.90), cashback kings (£150.50)
Free Pizza Express and Zizzi meals
Free Nails Inc nail polish worth £10.50

So nice that you all support those of us trying to bag a bargain.
Thanks very much for all your comments - really appreciate being attacked when I have a valid point to make. So nice to be treated so well. In case none of you has a single brain cell, most people trying to save money are under huge amounts of pressure (I am writing up a PhD, whilst trying to survive on £3000 for the year).

Have had nastiness on here before, but this decides me. No more MSE for me. Hope you're all proud of yourselves for your upstanding behaviour. Thanks a lot.

MSE does not equal complaining about and to companies who have done nothing wrong whatsoever, nevermind saying that you will tell everyone you meet not to go to their hotels.

We are all under pressure, hence why we are here. So I'm sorry, but if you are fishing for sympathy then you won't get it from me. I am in debt but still don't go spitting the dummy when I don't manage to take advantage of a limited offer.

So, I hope your proud of yourself for your upstanding behaviour. Goodbye and take care.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

Oh come on, you didn't get a room, I didn't get a room and at least 60,000 other people didn't get a room. This time it didn't work out for you - there's another chance in April when they do the same £1.00 per room sale again.

Please don't take offence but the reason people are reacting dismissively towards you is the unjustified bitterness you are displaying especially with comments like this:

Why not be philisophical about it and walk away learning something about bagging a room next time i.e. caching issues / Vodafone BB etc. Life really is too short to be this bitter and anyway, shouldn't you be getting your head down writing that thesis for your Phd rather than moaning about not getting a non-essential hotel room;) ;)

PS. I genuinly hope you get over this catastrophic disapointment and continue to use MSE for other money saving advice
