I didn't get a room my friend did, Am I bitter? complaining the site is all a scam!, no I move on. It happens. you win some you lose some. Just because you didn't get one why can't you just be happy for the people who were lucky enough to get one. Maybe next time you will get one & then it won't be a scam will it!!!!
Helen (fed up with people moaning about it just beacuse they didnt get a room)

This could have been a problem with your computer or your internet provider showing you a 'cached' version of the page rather than the latest one ie a copy it took earlier to avoid having to request the latest version each time, so as to show you the page quicker. Caching is widely used on the internet to minimise the amount of traffic. So the fault could very well lie at your end rather than theirs.I did refresh, about 50 times, and my clock is set to GMT - I checked it online this morning. I did everything you're supposed to do, and I didn't even get the chance to try for a room. Happy to compete, but only if it's a level playing field. This was designed to generate interest (with no chance of a return for the consumer) and PR for a small lost leader. Cynical, manipulative and makes me very angry.
Also, the internet isn't flawless - to cope with huge spikes of traffic like this is a complex task, especially for a small business without massive infrastructure. There's bound to be performance problems.0 -
A really nice hotel room (I've been, and it is) in London, including a breakfast (of sorts) for 2 people, for £1.
A scam?!
You've got to be kidding. The thrill is in the chase, you win some you loose some. That's what makes it so exciting. Yes it's frustrating when technology seems to let you down but come on, what do you expect? I think its just down to chance and the exact moment you try and click the link. That's the game
I can assure you it isn't a scam having been lucky in the past - in fact last time they even refunded us 2p because of the VAT change - so it was actually 98p room!
Well done to all those that got one, and better luck next time to those who didn't0 -
You don't think getting hundreds of thousands of people to sit patiently staring at their advertising, for them to say "oh sorry, our poor little website can't cope with all you horrid people trying to access it at once" is a scam???? If they know the demand is high, they should adapt to cope with it, or not do such stupid promotions. This just creates a massive sense of bad feeling in me, and I will go out of my way to recommend people to avoid this hotel. Is that what they were trying to achieve?
I refreshed several times, and NOTHING HAPPENED. I still got the new counter (that had reset to 24:00:00 and then started counting down). If they haven't got the technology, don't run the promotion online. Amateur hour.
I came on too late for this one but I have tried before and didn't get a room. I didn't then start bitching about the fact that I wasn't one of the lucky ones!
You are making a fool of yourself and acting ridiculous. So, it didn't work for you. Still OBVIOUSLY not a scam since it worked for other people. The company have the right to run their promotions how they see fit, if they want to do this online then they can, and they did. Any website would have problems with that amount of traffic and everyone knows it and knows it is a slim chance and don't complain when they don't happen to get a room.
Well done to those who got one :beer:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
did you get it through html version?0

I didnt get anything. My own fault really didnt know you had to select a check out day as well and then by the time I filled in my details it had gone. Better luck next time. Well done to everyone who got a room.

The confirmation email should be sent to my work email and sometimes it blocks emails. I did get the confirmation message saying that the room was booked. Hmm I shall wait if not I will ring them later."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"
