I came on too late for this one but I have tried before and didn't get a room. I didn't then start bitching about the fact that I wasn't one of the lucky ones!
You are making a fool of yourself and acting ridiculous. So, it didn't work for you. Still OBVIOUSLY not a scam since it worked for other people. The company have the right to run their promotions how they see fit, if they want to do this online then they can, and they did. Any website would have problems with that amount of traffic and everyone knows it and knows it is a slim chance and don't complain when they don't happen to get a room.
I'm complaining that I didn't even get the chance to TRY and get one. I'm all for competition. Not competitions that don't even let some people start the race. A website that doesn't work is hardly professional. One that buckles under the strain of the traffic, fine, but what I saw on my screen NEVER showed a link to be able to book a £1 or a £29 room. Not once. That's what I'm saying is unfair. If the link had come up and it'd taken ages to load so I'd missed out, fine. I understand the principle of first come, first served. Not this. I didn't get one this time, but it's not a scam...to whoever said that above.
I think the sale is becoming a bit too popular now...fewer people on this thread have said they've got a room compared to other occasions. I noticed on the FAQs, there is a question about US customers trying to get a room...so they must have people all over the world trying to get one.
It might be worth jacking up broadband speeds for this sale in future...last time I got a room, I was on a much faster broadband connection.0

            I forgot
Oh well, perhaps I will remember next time. Well done everyone who got a room  . It is a great hotel, I was there a few weeks ago when they gave out the FREE rooms. Much better than parting with a £1 and every little helps. Hope you all have a nice time.
This is not a scam, I think the hotel (and their staff) are great.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100

This could have been a problem with your computer or your internet provider showing you a 'cached' version of the page rather than the latest one ie a copy it took earlier to avoid having to request the latest version each time, so as to show you the page quicker. Caching is widely used on the internet to minimise the amount of traffic. So the fault could very well lie at your end rather than theirs.
Also, the internet isn't flawless - to cope with huge spikes of traffic like this is a complex task, especially for a small business without massive infrastructure. There's bound to be performance problems.
Didn't know that, thanks. Is there any way around that, or am I hog-tied by technology yet again? (Bring on the anti-Industrial Revolution, I say). If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you0 If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you0

Well done to all the lucky ones. :T
Never even managed to get on the site this time!
So I'm ready next time what's the best link to use.
Also does anyone know if you can book a triple room?
No, the rooms are for 1-2 persons, but you can get a double with a rollaway bed for a child.0

I got 18 February for £1. The booking went smoothly. Very happy indeed 0 Very happy indeed 0

I was one of the lucky ones!
Had to give it 2 goes, got a connection error message the first time.
Can't believe I got through on my slow internet connection at work.
Commiserations to those not so fortunate.0

To those enquiring about a lastminute.com sale - there's something happening tomorrow, I think promising hotel rooms for £10? We don't know where the rooms are or how many of them there yet though as far as I know. I do tend to be a little cynical about these lastminute.com sales as the site never seems to work properly - could be because it's a national site so many more people trying to use I guess?0

Well done to those that got rooms - I frustratingly got through whilst there were a fair few dates available but due to me being a complete numpty, I hadn't filled in the form completely and by the time I got my head around the form all rooms gone - oh well Cest-La-vie.
To the few saying it's a scam - oh come on and don't be daft. It's obviously a advertising initiative to raise the hotels profile and it's inevitable that the web-site will, in that short space of time, get an extraordinary huge amount of hits - just one of those things - some you win and some you loose.0

If it's your ISP that is doing it (NTL/virgin are probably the worst for this in my experience) then there's not a lot you can do sadly To prevent your computer from doing it, if you are using firefox you can click tools, clear private data, put a tick in "cache" and click ok and that will then reload a fresh copy of the page. It will cache from that point on though so if it's critical to you, you should do this regularly. 0 To prevent your computer from doing it, if you are using firefox you can click tools, clear private data, put a tick in "cache" and click ok and that will then reload a fresh copy of the page.
