You don't think getting hundreds of thousands of people to sit patiently staring at their advertising, for them to say "oh sorry, our poor little website can't cope with all you horrid people trying to access it at once" is a scam???? If they know the demand is high, they should adapt to cope with it, or not do such stupid promotions. This just creates a massive sense of bad feeling in me, and I will go out of my way to recommend people to avoid this hotel. Is that what they were trying to achieve?
I refreshed several times, and NOTHING HAPPENED. I still got the new counter (that had reset to 24:00:00 and then started counting down). If they haven't got the technology, don't run the promotion online. Amateur hour.

Even the best website would do this. It is not a scam and try again next time and you may be lucky.

Can't believe it, i wanted a tuesday night and couldn't even get that! I put it down to ppl panic buying :(

I don't get how some people have had luck on more than one occasion, I've tried every time and never got one!

That's a shame hun, you'd think some Tues nights would have been free :(

This is my first time i've ever tried for this and that whole process was as scary as hell!. Worth it in the end though.

I wanted and managed to get a midweek night (Weds) but to make it worse, it had to be a specific date as i already have train tickets 'pre-emptly' bought!

    xx

I agree that the implementation wasn't as good as it could have been, and the link on the opening post of this thread seems to have confused some people. For future reference you just need to make sure you regularly refresh www.hoxtonhotel.com in the run up to 12pm. If you simply wait for the timer to get to 00:00:00 you're likely to fail, especially if your computer clock is slow (as it's that which the timer is basing itself on).

I did refresh, about 50 times, and my clock is set to GMT - I checked it online this morning. I did everything you're supposed to do, and I didn't even get the chance to try for a room. Happy to compete, but only if it's a level playing field. This was designed to generate interest (with no chance of a return for the consumer) and PR for a small lost leader. Cynical, manipulative and makes me very angry.
:grin:If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you

I didn't get a room my friend did, Am I bitter? complaining the site is all a scam!, no I move on. It happens. you win some you lose some. Just because you didn't get one why can't you just be happy for the people who were lucky enough to get one. Maybe next time you will get one & then it won't be a scam will it!!!!
Helen (fed up with people moaning about it just beacuse they didnt get a room)
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

anyone knows how long it takes to get confirmation email from them?

I got mine through a minute or two after I booked.
  • I managed to get 2 £1 rooms, one in my name and one is the girlfriends name, a Thursday in March and a Thursday in April. Both in seperate transactions. :j

Not sure what the secret is... a good internet connection and fast typing helps I think.
  • Well done everyone who got a room. I'm too slow at typing address i guess. Can't now see calendar for £29 rooms, so i guess no luck this time.... one day i might be lucky!
