This is pathetic. I thought doing a PhD was some sign of maturity and perspective. Obviously not in all cases.
I didn't get a room today either, the site screwed up - for me at least. Last time it didn't; this time it did. I've been twice, lost out more than twice. Guess what - I got on with the rest of the day.
A break for my birthday would have been nice. But I will do something different instead.

Just for the information of those who have responded so unkindly, this is my daughter who was very kindly trying to get ME a room so that I might be able to afford to visit with her.
I was unable to be online myself due to having to take my terminally ill father to a specialists appointment.
She knew how very much I wanted to be able to come down and see her as I don't see her very often, also being on a VERY low income. This would have made a difference.
Yes I agree it was bad luck but I feel the point that is being missed is that it appears it was not clear HOW to get to the right page or indeed which WAS the right page.

An over subscribed site is one thing, one that is badly designed and misleads is another.
She had never tried for this offer before so had no prior knowledge and little time to fiddle around beforehand trying to see what the wrinkles were.
Please can those who have been so condemnatory just try and remember that sometimes when any of us over react it is a sign of pain, not stupidity/immaturity or similar.
My daughter has come in for uncalled for abuse through trying to help her mother and then reacting to what is a big disappointment to both of us. Sorry to those who don't understand how hard life can seem sometimes, thanks to those who were kind enough to give helpful and supportive responses.
We all need a bit of understanding some times!

Fair play to you for speaking out and sorry that you didn't get the room but you have to remember that forums like this do get annoyed when people come on here and start to moan about not getting the deals etc... it's human nature to try to get a bargain but we have to accept that thing don't go our way.

I hope that things get better for you both.

I went a couple of years ago it was great but I never got a room this time or last time, but I will keep trying everytime they have a sale. One day I will be lucky again.

I almost got a room:rolleyes: I preregistered and everything but I was away from home so I had to use my netbook. Their flash site ended up so small on my tiny screen that I couldn't read any of the print (I even tried peering at the screen through a magnifying glass:rotfl: ) I didn't know what to put in each box Needless to say I didn't get it right and when I tried to go back and try again it crashed and threw me out.

I don't have problems seeing any other sites on my netbook screen so I think the Hoxton one must be very badly designed.

Why can't we use the html site for these promotions anymore? The flash one favours those who have faster internet connections:mad:
