The connection I was using yesterday was a high-speed commercial one - it didn't do me any good though, and it crashed out quite spectacularly in the first seconds. Oh - and the PC (yuk) was up to scratch too.
Two separate browsers, constant refreshing - no good. Your particular connection either talks to Hoxton's site or not ... no half measures it seems.
As many have said - win some, lose some.
Yes it's just the luck of the draw I suppose. The only time I was successful was a while back when the html link could still be used.

I'll try again next time (only not on a netbook:rolleyes: )

Well done to those that did succeed:T

I had two browser tabs open, to the page marked "Hoxton Hotels £1 deal", which was counting down the minutes to 12:00. At 12:00, all that happened was the timer reset. There was no link, no tab, no button to take you to the calendar or other reservations page. IT SIMPLY DIDN'T WORK. That's a scam in my book. It makes me absolutely determined never to stay in such a cr&&&y hotel even if they give the rooms away. Media hype = BACKFIRE in this case.

It did work and it's actually an awesome hotel. Stayed there a couple of times & always left smiling.
The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.

Boo Hoo cue the violin. So you didn't bag a bargain. Big deal. It does not mean you come onto a forum and rant about the company, its status. how rubbish it is. Also it isnt an excuse to come on to a forum and rant about the links the company may have.

JoJo, just by reading those two posts i can genuinely say i can profile your personality to atleast one major. When somebody else has something you wanted, and you didnt get it, youre the type of girl who will then pretend you didnt want it anyway, you saw something better elsewhere, and attempt to put down the bargain and/or individual in the process.

The fact that your mummy had to get involved...well we'll leave it at that shall we.

Nathan Hill69 made some valid points. Some people are making sense. Others dont realise why they are subject to criticism. Well theres a way to go about expressing disappointment, in a manner in which people can empathise with you, or in a manner in which people will criticise you. Its upto you, the disappointed individual, to differentiate.

Anyway, its no big deal to Hoxton. I mean, pay the site a visit and it will tell you how many were attempting to buy a room in the first 5 mins (Numbers close to 50k)

So whether it didnt work for you, or you feel its bad advertising, believe me, your voice will never be heard. Others have enjoyed this, dare i say, luxury bargain :))

    I bagged 7 £1 rooms!!

I was agreeing with you there, until your very last sentence which smacks of gloating!

Exactly. If you DID get 7 £1 rooms, and didn't switch in one sentence from being reasonable to just being very provocative, then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Many people would like this accommodation for all sorts of personal reasons, and if you HAVE misused this offer you have deprived six families of fun and leisure. My son remembers both his Hoxton adventures as great times where his parents showed him all sorts of London sights and sites. Hoxton's ad worked since I bought an extra night in both cases. Greedy people who abuse offers - well maybe others can suggest punishments.
If anyone HAS got more than their share I hope that the delightful staff at the Hoxton are on their toes and detect you.
Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.

Me thinks they're just being provocative and taking the p**s some what to see if they can get a rise.;)

HOWEVER, if not, then yep that's a selfish abuse of the offer which just stinks of "me, me me and sc**w everyone else".

But my suspicion is it's just tongue-in-cheek as no one would be that selfish
  • If the above poster has bagged 7 £1 rooms, he'll have them all cancelled as this is clearly against the rules!! However, he may have got 7 £1 rooms successively in 7 different sales (but I don't think there has been as many as 7 sales...maybe someone can clarify this?). I'm sure Hoxton read these threads to gauge reactions to the sales, so they'll soon know if someone is abusing their sale...

Also, to the above poster...the whole issue of Jojo was sort of solved by the fact her mother posted and explained her kneejerk reactions. Your comments have overshadowed any immaturity of Jojo's behalf...you must feel like such a big man (or woman).

Was that directed at me? If not can you at least directly refer to the poster is is directed at as I am the poster directly above you. If you read my posts you'll see I've not been in any way abusive to Jo Jo and haven't even commented on that scenario since her Mum's post.

Nathanhill, the comments were directed at the person who said they bagged the 7 £1 rooms. I forgot to click quote! But given the nature of my comments, I think it's pretty obvious they are addressed at him, and not you who made very reasonable comments.

You say 'can you at least....'....did you have another problem with what I said?

No worries with what you say, actually agree with your sentiment. I just thought it wasn't clear who the last paragraph of your post was aimed at - put it down to my fragile ego and my mis-understanding:beer:
