    Hello all,

Here's an update of the bits I've made...

    A couple of cards:

These are presents I have decorated for a friend's birthday:

I covered the notebook in brown paper and decorated it with flowers, gems and ribbon on the spine. I decorated the glass using deco pens from Baker Ross. You can use the deco pens for all sorts of surfaces. I've not long discovered Baker Ross' site and I am really impressed with their products, value and service. The deco pens can be found here...

Anne's Attic today's free pattern is a very pretty sachet. Crocheted, but the idea could easily be adapted to knitting or sewing, a nice way to give a gift of money or vouchers.

Hey lovely people. 2 things I need inspiration for...

    1) a friend has asked me to make a decorated notebook, I don't really want to cover a book as I don't think I can do it neatly but any ideas on a nice way of decorating a pretty plain one? I was thinking of writing some lovely quotes through it on the edges and bottom of pages too.

    2) I want to make a desserts/ice cream hamper for a friend, any ideas on something I can create to put in it so that it has a crafted element to it?

    Thanks!

sian - I'm sure you could cover a book -just get some pretty scrapbook paper, cut it to size and stick it on. Thats what I did for my friend last christmas for her 'journal in a jar'
Or you could just put embellishments (flowers, ribbon -something like that) on the front of a plain one -you could get a notebook with a patterned cover and embellish that.

Can't help with the dessert/ice cream hamper apart from getting a nice sundae glass and making a sort of 'flannel sundae' if you know what I mean.

I've got some lovely cream suedette material that was inside a box of smellies I got last year............want to use it for something but as its cream I don't want to spoil it so any ideas on that I'd be grateful for.
It's about the size of 2 A4 sheets of paper.

    Hello all,

I hope you don't mind me posting here, but I do lurk (a lot!) on this thread and thought this might be useful to someone. My mum has just ordered cellophane and ribbon from the following site: http://www.floristandcraftsupplies.co.uk/index1.html
She said it is great quality at a great price, and I know a lot of people look for cellophane etc. so thought I'd let you know. :)

If I'm not meant to post about stuff like this, will someone let me know and I will remove the post.

    Thanks!

HI all, just an update about the leavers gifts for my sons teachers. I didn't manage to get any pictures as we was so busy with packing but the gifts were really well received, especially the books about my son. He is keeping in touch with the teachers and his old friends by writing letters which is really nice and they made such a fuss over him on his last day :)

Seems to have taken nearly all day to make a 'dammit doll'.........:undecided and now I think I''ve messed it up. Instead of just leaving it as it was which was sort of ok I have to go and try to put a pigtail in the middle of its head............OH says its alright but I think he's just being kind..........I've put it in a bag now till another day for a fresh look.

    Hi Squishy, welcome along :)

Thanks for the welcome :D I love reading this thread: I need to come up with some ideas for Christmas presents for this year, as I'm having a baby in September so this will make a cut in both available time and money! ;)

I make a lot of cards, have done cross stitch for years, and really like crocheting (especially blankets) so some people might get a large blanket and some snuggly stuff like slipper socks and hot chocolate etc :D One of my favourite things I ever made was a cross stitch baby afghan which I made for my brother and sister in law when they had a baby a couple of years ago: I was thinking of making one for my baby but a wonderful friend has informed me she is making one for me :j So I'm looking at baby cross stitch patterns now :)

    Hello Sian,

I like Mary's ideas for decorating the notebook.

For the dessert/ice-cream hamper how about decorating a sundae glass or a bowl? Or doing some baking, eg making cupcakes, a cake, brownies, fudge, etc? Or how about making a sauce/topping? I've done a quick google search and have found the following:

    Chocolate sauces - http://www.helpwithcooking.com/sauces/chocolate-sauce.html

    Apricot sauce - http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/chestnutandchocolate_73321.shtml

    Chocolate fudge sauce - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/recipes/article5748260.ece

All sorts of flavours here - http://southernfood.about.com/cs/icecream/a/ice_cream_4.htm

Or for something a bit different, Thai sweet chilli - http://thaifood.about.com/od/thaidesserts/r/icecreamsauce.htm
