For future reference I must remember that my nephew is not impressed with sock monkeys :(
    Ah well.
On a very positive note, I think my influence is spreading, my housemates and friends gave me some very creative birthday presents. One made me a bible cover for the Bible I keep in my handbag, it is long lengths of beautifully shiny bright fabric under a layer of netting, I have no idea how she did it but it is gorgeous. Another friend who doesn't seem to understand all my craftiness actually made me a sock pig, for a first attempt and without any instructions it is fabulous. Yet another friend made me a monster' made with all different fabrics with massive button eyes and a little velcro-on popcorn

    I love my friends :D

Lucy - had an e mail from the natural cutains site - some sort of technical problem so I had to e mail them my order. Not sure whether the site's ok now or not -might well be by now.

Sian - they sound like brilliant pressies - you've got some good friends

I've done nothing in the craft line except cover 4 shoe boxes with scrapbook paper ready for birthday bits plus christmas and keep doing a bit more to MIL's cross stitch.............oh and the scrapbook I'm doing for Mum's friend.

Couple of ideas I found -just silly things

    Home Excerciser

    Block of wood
1- place in centre of the floor
2 - Walk around two times
3- Rest...............you've walked round the block twice !!

    Santa's snot

    Santa Snot
Place some Green M&M's or Green Tic Tacs in a Baggie
and attach a cute topper with one of the following poems attached:

    Some kids are so special
    they won't be forgot
    others are so horrible
    they're getting Santa snot!
So what sort of kid are you
    naughty or real nice?
    guess if you're reading this
    Santa checked his list twice!!
    or
It's 'snot' a lot to ask for
So make sure you watch what you do
    And always remember your manners
A little please or a thank you
For it could make the difference
When you start to jump about
    And open up your stocking
To find that Santa's snot falls out
    Remember he is watching
His elves are around a lot
    And if you're being naughty
All you'll get is Santa's snot

Mini knitted Christmas tree ornaments! How cute are these? And they don't look very difficult, even for me (who's a fairly novice knitter). I'm going to try and make one this weekend :)

EDITED TO SAY : I dusted off the knitting needles and tried this pattern last night - it was incredibly easy (even for me, who can scarcely knit at all). It turned out slightly larger than I expected - I suppose the finished tree is about six inches tall - but it only took me around half an hour to knit one (I made two last night, and will sew them together, stuff with wadding and sew on some beads to decorate them this weekend, if I can find the time!). I'm really pleased with it so far.

CJ - really sweet...........sadly my knitting days are over (old fingers just won't letme..............lol) so I''m going to have a go at some little felt bits -christmas tree, mittens, socks, snowmen, stuff like that, to hang across my dresser..........well thats if that turn out ok. Got some of the felt but not got round to any yet.

Thank you Mary, am hoping my samples will come soon. I'm going to try using them making cards.

Artymiss have a really good sale on at the moment, they have stickers and embellishments for 25p, 50p and 99p. I've never ordered anything from them before but I've stocked up! I've also ordered some blank cards, a glitter writer and some other bits. Here is the link...

Edit - yay, I can post links now and I’m not classed as a newbie!

Lucy - I want my fabric for cards too. Think they'll make them look just a bit different.

Had e mail from artymiss myself this morning but hadn't looked till now. I could get seriously carried away if I weren't very careful............lol

  • Wow, I haven't been on this thread in a while but there are some fabulous ideas on here!!!
I haven't had time to do much crafting recently but as I am preparing to move, my son will be moving school so I've started getting his leaving gifts for his teachers organised.
We have made a Teacher's Survival Kit with the following items inside
Sponge - To soak up the overflow, when your brain is too full
Tissues - to wipe away the tears, yours and theirs
Shiny Penny - to remind you each child shines in their own special way
Paper Clip - to hold everything together
Crayon - To colour your day bright and cheerful
Elastic Band - to remind you to be flexible
Puzzle Piece - because without you the class wouldn't be complete
Marbles - to replace the ones you may lose
Eraser - to remind you everyone makes mistakes and they can be erased
Starburst - to give you a burst of energy when you need it
We still have to print out the list of contents and add the finishing touches to the jar, but it is coming together.

I've also started two A4 card books (of sorts) about my son - one for his teacher and one for the teaching assistant in his class. On the cover it says Thank You for making my time at (school name) special, there is also a photo of my son. Then on each piece of card after that there are headings such as My favourite Event This Year and How I Felt On My First Day... so my son has to fill the different pages in and I am going to get him to draw a picture of his teachers then will put a hole punch through the pages when they are finished and tie them together with some nice ribbon.
